If they can't get anything in a trade I would keep Hill. He's an excellent backup center. We'd still have about 15 million to spend. Sign DeMare Carroll and bring back Lin for cheap.
Clarkson/Lin
Kobe/Brown
Carroll/Young
Randle/Black
Okafor or Towns/Hill
There are better backup centers than Hill for that money, and you don't want to take a max player out of the equation before free agency even begins.
I don't see any max players worth signing this class.
9m off the cap if we can't find a trade partner for him. Goodbye to any top tier free agents. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
I say let JChill walk and with the $9mil we save on him, offer Davis $3-3.5 mil/year, bring back T-Black and maybe another player or 2 with the additional $6mil we save by letting Hill walk.
Ed Davis can do what Jordan does for half as much. Lakers need to get either one big free agent this year, or the likelihood, two very good players for the same max dollar. Getting another 5 million to spend will be huge. _________________ Because we're better than you!

Absolutely not! As far as the trade ideas i believe he has a clause in his contract that if he is traded the team he is traded to had to pick up his option this year. _________________ “What is 17,505”

Decline Hill's option. Okafor/Towns, Black, Sacre, Davis can all play C.
Agreed. Hill has to go now, or a sign and trade. But too much, so unlikley. Also, time to say good bye to Boozer, Sacre, Lin, Ellington, Price, and Young.
I wouldn't. I'd offer Hill a shot to come back for less, but I'd also see about holding onto Davis as a backup big since he is a more natural shot-blocker than Okafor is right now at this stage of development.

it would suck to tell em, hey we dont want you for $10M, but we will take you for $5M.. lol
his market value is not $10M and he knows that, but he'd probably just bail to spite us. Even if he likes LA, he's gotta know he is a prime trade candidate

This of course is if we do indeed draft a big.
Either way.. get rid of SUC-re please !!
Sarce is cheap and he is the perfect 3rd string center for us.
LOL all this hate for Jordan Hill is really not founded. He was one of our best players this year, there's no doubt. Obviously at $10M it's not worth it but he did a serviceable job this year.
Hill was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time, hence the short term fat contract. Whether you deserve the money or not, you're going to sign that contract and never look back. I have no issues with him. He played up to his abilities. Plus, once the team goes into full on tank mode, pretty tough to stay engaged in what's happening during any of the games.
That being said, no, he's not worth his option. I'd rather hold onto Black and Davis (or a free agent / trade to upgrade the roster). If there's not a strong market for him, I could see us resigning him to a new deal since I don't really consider Sacre to be worthwhile depth.
I really don't get how drafting Okafor/Towns leads to a better chance of picking up Hill's option. Shouldn't it be the opposite? Drafting a guard improves the chances of picking up the option of a bigman? Even if that chance is 0.00001% which is Hill's case.

No since we have options on 2 franchise big men and randle, the chances hill comes back is 0% and we are not drafting russell with Clarkson on the roster.

So what exactly are you answering to in my post? I'm not saying we should draft Russell. When you read the thread title it gives the impression that by drafting a big man we should pick up Hill's option which makes zero sense.
No point at all in picking up the option especially if we draft jah/kat. That being said this is the writing on the wall for Davis as well. He wants to start and get paid two things I doubt will happen if we pick jah/kat and tariq/sacre at backup 5. _________________ 11/9/12 the day the brown was flushed down!!!!!!
