KD is a free in 2016, essentially 1 year from now. We're not enticing him with two players coming off their rookie years.

The way to get Durant is star power now. He's not leaving Westbrook and Ibaka for less. Were either going to have to land a big free agent this year or trade the pick for Cousins. Otherwise, we ain't got (bleep) for Durant. Westbrook would be more realistic. LA ties and two years to show off our rookies.

I have a hard time believing the Lakers hold on to their rookie pick.. Good chance he gets packaged for legit veteran talent

everybody, everyone is gonna have 81 mill in cap space which means teams like Washington GS and LA will have a shot, Miami is the darkhorse. I think it comes down to Wash and GS

Miami is always the darkhorse for any player worthwhile. Never underestimate Riles.

I think he is getting excited about some rookie, especially if it's a polished post up C like Okafor for PnR or 2-man game on the weakside.

Okafor has the body to set screens, finish in PnR, or the two guys can play catch and see if anyone doubles Okafor in the post and leaves Durant open.

Yup completely agree Mike especially when you take into account OKC has never given him a legit low post big man.

The prospect of having not one, but two is gonna be hard for KD to pass up.

He can play the role Kobe did in 2009-2010 championship years. He'll still be the alpha male and the unquestioned best player, but when he drives to the hoop he'll be able to throw it up to one of the bigs. He'll be able to feed them down low and if/when they get doubled they can kick it out to KD and SPLASH!

Teams won't be able to help when Durant has the ball on the wing because of the bigs. He'll be able to operate from his sweet spots and be able to subvert the court and have passing lanes as well.

I like KD's game, not excited about his health. Is he starting to break down already?

He's not gonna wanna play for a Scott Brooks clone either.

It doesn't cost you anything to say you'd like to play with a guy. The rubber hits the road when you actually sign to play with a guy.

There's no question that Durant likes and respects Kobe. Would Durant want to be on a team where he has to compete with Kobe's alpha presence? Who knows? And if Kobe retires after this season, it will be a moot point that will never be tested.

He absolutely would why wouldn't he? Durant puts up with a similar personality in Westbrook. Only difference is at this point there'd be no question this would be Durant's team over Kobe's. KD isn't he type to say something just to say it. He speaks from his heart and if he says he wants to play with Kobe than there's no reason to believe that's not what he believes.

Prediction: KD, a#2 pick, will join Okafor, our new #2 pick, Randle, and Clarkson. The next Lakers dynasty.

KD doesn't want to win in 4-5 seasons, he wants to win now. That is why good use of our FA money is more valuable in attracting him than a 19 year old kid.

Apparently Flip Saunders raved about Towns on Cowherd this morning

Yeah, that Wizard offensive system makes Byron look like an offensive genius.

Some think he will never learn to play even passable NBA defense. I would never pass on him.

You don't think Okafor won't be able to be a 3rd option early on? Even Towns for that matter?

You don't need much to get through the East. I'm certain a team with Wall and KD would get to the finals easy, assuming health.

1. The only reason Randy Whitman is still in DC is because they want to wait to fire him when KD is a free agent and they can add letting him pick a coach to their pitch.

2. The Wizards have Wall and Beal.

3. KD is from the DC area.

If KD leaves, it'll be for Washington first, then MAYBE L.A.

I don't think Okafor is a factor for a vet like KD, I think other vets are. Our real chance to impress him will be the 2016 offseason, we can pair him with another vet star.

I think Durant will appreciate a guy who can score the basketball in the paint, whether he's a rookie or a vet.

He never had that at OKC.

I will be happy with either of them... although Towns is my preference. We need a defensive presence in the post because Sacre, Hill, and Randle are not it.

Not sure Durant wants to go from an in-his-prime Westbrook to an aging/injured version in a 37-38 y.o. Kobe.

I'm sure Durant absolutely looks up to Kobe and thinks the world of him, but pinning his hopes on playing with Kobe is a bit unrealistic. There are better options/teammates to do that with down the road, i.e. John Wall.

The point is Durant will wait to see how Okafor actually performs in the NBA before factoring him in as a reason to come to the Lakers. If Okafor has a great rookie season, he'll be a selling point. But he won''t be a selling point based on the guess/hope/expectation that he'll have a good rookie season.
