I think Jim Buss' 3 year window should be revisited. With 3 rookies in the Starting Lineup, they will need more time to develop. He should remain VP |

Clarkson
Kobe

Randle
Okafor/Towns
With KD becoming a free agent
Btw, Clarkson, Randle and 2015 pick are on rookie contracts.
That will leave us money to sign a Free agent.
Shall we sing his praises or give the credit to Mitch? |
As I have always said YOU GOTTA TRUST IN JIM BUSS!!!!!! _________________ |

All credit for our draft successes goes to Saint Mitchell d'Kupchak. He apparently has a magic wand he waves in times of dire need, and POOF all our problems go away. |
It's not like it hasn't happened. |

And I never tell the mods to close a thread, but this is ridiculous! You don't credit someone for making a team so bad that you end up with high draft picks! |
Yet how many "Blame/Fire Jim Buss" threads would have popped up had we lost the pick...? |

It's going to be tough for the folks who long to make Jim their pin cushon. But you could make a strong case that Jim and Mitch took a chance to get Dr Buss one last shot at a ring and when that came up snake eyes, Jim took the heat and never made excuses. Now he and Mitch have weathered the storm and are back in a position to really do something less than three years after LA was the unanimous favorite to win the title.
You could also make the case Byron did what it took to protect the pick while developing a rookie guard, his specialty, to the result of his making first team all rookie despite being drafted in the 2nd half of the 2nd round. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

In the real world, you can get credit by being lucky, and so he deserves some. |

No but he planned on putting the team in position to potentially get a #2 pick.
He could have just traded the pick outright. But he didn't. He signed off on a deal including protections in the event we couldn't improve the team via free agency.
He should get credit for that. |

You don't get credit for this...you get credit for building a contender.
But, this is a good first step for everyone and not the day for any negativity. |

Sure you do. As you said, it is a good first step. That's what he gets credit for.
There are a lot of other teams who don't even make a good first step. How many teams that are not in contention can say they've got 3 very promising rookie prospects and boat loads of cap space? Not many. |

I said it in the past and I'll say it again. Jim asked for a 3 year window and if in that time the team wasn't a contender he'd step down.
Look at what he's done objectionably. We have a young roster, the makings of a solid bench.
If Randel pans out and we get Okafor, and it looks like we may, that young roster is something to build around. If we don't get Okafor, Towns is just as good a first round pick. We won't lose either way.
Kobe's coming off the books along with Nash giving the organization money to go after another max. The future of the Lakers looks bright.
Give Jim a chance. Let's see what next season reaps. I was looking at 2017 and it looks good to go then.

$3.5 mil is cheap for the service that Boozer provides.
$9 mil is trade bait that may or may not work still.. and it's a team option and we needed to meet the league min salary.. makes sense. |

Unless Jim stands in the way of Mitch's magic, which is why it's Jim's fault. |
