Sign Butler, Middleton or Harris this year, sign Kevin Durant the season after.
I love it when a plan comes together. |
Trying to go back to the LOTS of small forward days? |
Either one of the first three players I mentioned can be moved to SG.
Clarkson
Butler, Middleton or Harris
Durant
Randle
Towns/Okafor _________________ Darvin Scam: https://media.tenor.com/images/3c15249955860a4b16b59e8ae035fb75/tenor.gif |

I don't think what you say is true......before the collapse we never had a problem before. I would think the roster is more of a problem than kobe. I know it easy to think its kobe but lets be real. |

Kobe will be a great example/leader for young talented players. It is so much easier for great talent to play well together. I believe Kobe will want to leave a positive legacy. _________________ .....

The reporter probably spoke to Dwight Howard's agent.
Dude took less money to go to Houston and is now in the WCF.
God I hate this dude and can't wait for him and the Rockets to lose to Golden State. |

2 max players this year and next (sans the great Kobe) with Randle, Towns/Okafor and Clarkson!!! (maybe another gem or two with the lower picks), maybe Jabari develop into a 6th man!!!
Things are finally looking up!!! |

They'll be an attractive destination once Randle and the number 2 pick develop into their peak as players. No way do I see us as front runners to land any marquee FA this summer. |

Yup. Randle getting hurt really didn't help that; but if he played we probably don't get #2. We will be fine. Will take IMO until at least 2017 where we are firmly in the middle of the playoff mix. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

And that's not to say it's all doom and gloom. i haven't been this excited since the Lakers traded for Dwight in 2012. I think we've got a great chance at a good future foundation now with most likely Okafor and Randle. However until they prove they can get the team in the playoffs and we sign some other quality starting caliber players we won't really be a prime candidate for top FAs.
Realistically I think Westbrook in 2017 is our best bet. By 2017 we should be fielding a very good young team that a proven all star FA would want to jump ship on. |

Yup. I can now finally see the blueprint in place (assuming Kobe retires after next season). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I'm slightly optimistic. We'll get a good #2 in this draft, and when the #2, Randle and Clarkson hit the floor, they'll look like a good nucleus by the end of next season. We won't make the playoffs, but given their ages, the location of the franchise and the team cap we'll be an attractive destination.
All it takes at that point is one star free agent signing. "If you build it, he will come." |

He's a restricted FA. Doesn't have the choice to leave. Bulls aren't going to let him walk because he had a disagreement with Rose. |

I don't believe anything said without a name attached. Until someone signs I look at the Lakers as a team on the rise but not a "destination" spot quite yet. |

Hold off on cackling. Ain't done a thing on court so far. As I recollect, these same voices were proclaiming Laker triumphs for three or four Summers in a now. |

It was a crappy season. In fact the worst one in franchise history. Not sure what there is to "laugh" about. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

I agree, but he is going to need someone to step up and take the burden off of him offensively. That's what Pau did when he got here and it was beautiful to watch. I don't think even Kobe wants to take the bulk of the charge at this stage in his career.
*edit*
Then again, management might just let him walk if Durant decides to join us. Or Kobe takes a major pay cut and goes ring chasing on his own team.

Problem with 2017 is that we'll no longer have Clarkson and Black on bargain deals which cancels out the expected cap-space increase. It'll be tough to carry over our cap-space in 2016 to 2017.
I'd love to see us get both a high-quality two-way swingman and veteran center. Middleton and Chandler would be my top choices but Carroll/Green and Koufos/Splitter/Davis would be coups as well. Durant and Conley would be a great fit in that lineup.
Okafor/Towns, Chandler, Black
Randle, (Durant)
Durant
Clarkson or Middleton (the other would be our 6th man)
Conley |

I really wish my fellow Lakers fans would stop falling for this garbage.
A report like this comes out EVERY off season. Player reps use the Lakers to get better deals fro their clients. GM's are terrified of losing players to the Lakers so agents float out the possibility of certain free agents relocating to Staples Center.
We're even seeing this happening with Coaches. Every notice that every time a college coaches contract is coming up there are rumors of them jumping to NBA, then they suddenly sign monster sized contracts to stay where they are?
Stop getting your hopes up over this dumb reports. |
