The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly pursue Tom Thibodeau, according to Jordan Schultz of the Huffington Post.
Lakers head coach Byron Scott is still under contract for one more year, but the chance to land Thibodeau may lead to the Lakers to buying out his final year. While there will be competition for Thibs' services, the Lakers would be paying four head coaches (Mike Brown, Mike D'Antoni, Scott, and Thibodeau) if this scenario comes to fruition.

Why is everyone so quick to dump on Jordan Schultz? What if he's right about this.. Can you imagine how much credibility he would gain? |

The person with the most credibility to gain would be Mitch for dumping Byron. |

First, Thibs is under contract with the Bulls.
Do the Lakers want to trade a 1st rounder to clear him of his contractual obligation to the Bulls? No. So moot. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Because it's completely idiotic and he's known for throwing crap at the walls and being wrong. not to mention we just sent Byron to the lottery and we'd be paying 4 coaches...why am I even doing this? lol huffington post getting basketball scoop. THAT should make you laugh. 99% of rumors are rumors. Credibility could be gained if that were understood. |

I really have no idea who's shcultz or how credible is huffington post. I don't live in the US so if this is garbage my appologie.
But I still think there is a good chance Chicago fires thibs. Going after him totally makes sense for the lakers if it happens. I don't see how crazy that is. |

I think there was already a thread on this that got locked because the source isn't very credible. Either way, I'm way less enamored with Thibs after that Cavs series, his offense is god awful. |

Gotcha. Thibs has developed a clear reputation for having Van Gundy syndrome. In addition to being clueless offensively he also runs his players into the ground with absurd minutes as well. He also a bit of a firebrand.
It would be a huge step backwards to change a system that Clarkson and others have played in for a season and start from square one with a guy who has no system. Plus they's still be paying Byron and the Mikes. Less than a 1% chance this happens. |

Again, Thibs is under contract so the Lakers have to give up a 1st rounder (likely) to the Bulls for him, let alone firing Scott. Highly improbable and def LOCK worthy. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

They aren't. They are just doing what they typically do and pulling a rumor from somewhere else (in this case a low-end NBC guy).
Such a move would make no sense for the Lakers. They are looking to build stability and re-establish credibility after a string of questionable coaching moves.
No way they compound things by firing Scott and bringing in yet a new Coach. |

Doubtful. That would be extraordinary but I'm willing to bet they give Byron Scott another year at least. _________________ Lakers, today. Lakers, tomorrow. Lakers, forever. |

I think there is a little overreaction concernings Thibbs offensive abbilities after the fiasco that was theses playoffs.
Thibs is pretty much an average offensive coach while being a great defensive coach. Scott is just bad on both ends. It's crucial the lakers get rid of him if they want to have a shot at attracting free agents.
And as far as running his players into the ground Byron is up there too.
Edit: Looks like it's getting locked anyway. We'll see what happens. |

Sorry but I am not buying it. Why bring Tibs in for Kobe when Kobe is in the last year of his contract? Give Scott one more year to see who it goies before showing hijm the door. _________________ Keep winning! |
