3) Barnes n Noble (wonderful place to pick up women)
4) Target (even easier spot to pick up women)
5) Whole Foods or Sprouts (even easier place to pick up women)

Langer's would be absolutely spectacular but I would be dead in 3 years.

overall hotness of clientele, both sexes

Whole Foods - yoga pants & runner HQ - 10/10

REI - healthy active chicks who enjoy earth's delights - 9/10

Barnes & Noble - n/a (I rolled with borders, waldenbooks, and crown)

Nordstrom - stylish and affluent enough to know that Nordstrom Rack is just TJ Maxx wearing smart glasses -8/10

Target - in a decent area 7/10, overall 5/10...there are Target stores in some pretty wretched areas, such as Alhambra or San Pedro

Walmart - nobody you'd ever want to have sex with, who had sex with each other and had kids - mos eisley/10

Sad, but your post is a reminder we're all stuck with B&N as Amazon wiped everyone else out. I'm not even sure if B&N will sustain its present infrastructure; they're pretty much a coffeehouse with a wide variety of clean, up to date magazines that you can indulge as you drink your latte. That's their only value proposition versus Amazon.

The best B&N ever was the Textbook Annex in Manhattan, which was like an incredible library of every technical discipline and esoteric literary desire imaginable. Sadly, they've shuttered as well which makes trips to NYC less enjoyable.

I never had the pleasure of visiting that place but always heard high regards from my NY/NJ relatives. By the time I came to fully appreciate the beauty of the medium, bookstores had begun to disappear.
