After looking at that list of top flight players (better then a #1 overall draft pick list), that's the name you're going to pull out from it?

Since 07-08 it's been hit and miss really

but tbh we can't go wrong at 2 since there are 2 great players

My point is, think about when these assessments are made. Even before college. Okafor rising to the top speaks highly. Even a "bust" like Greg Oden was not a bust. His body just didn't hold up. He broke down faster than even Bynum.

I thinks that more because since 07-08, the amount of elite talent coming into the NBA has dropped off. just look back over the NBA draft since 2009, not alot of elite players. especially in the 2010, 2011, and 2013 classes.

Frosh year is a key development year.

Also, every draft crop is different.

8-10 HOF/elite type players on that list since 88. Love and Wiggins being the 9 and 10 ones.

Zo
Kidd
Webber
Sheed
Kobe
Tmac
Lebronze
Dwight
Love
Wiggins
KG

Not to mention players whom still are very good after those elite names.
Noel
Harrington
Gerald Wallace
Favors

Thank you GonzagaAlum, this is a fascinating list (McDonalds HS ASG)

A big reason the list members did so good in the past, and maybe not much more recently is this whole "high-school" --> NBA situation (with or without the one year college rental)

I do believe that the McDonalds list is to date the best "indicator" of future success in the NBA: certainly much more so than previous year NBA #2 picks

We're good with Okafor (McDonalds, HANDS, offense) or Towns (two way)... We'll let Minnesota do us a favor by picking their (and our) pick

Noel will be elite in my opinion, at least defensively.
So 25 names (Lebron and Oden 2x) you got 15 very good players it's a good indicator IMO.

Absolutely an amazing predictor. Compare that to lets say the high school football prep player of the year... I doubt you get close to that, or baseball
