I don't think Jordan is the same player on another team....Paul and Blake make it easy for him and keep him involved. If we really think Chicago will blink, then I could not resist going after Butler.
#1 - Butler
#2 - Tobias Harris (being hidden in Orlando has reduced his recognition)
#5 - All 3 Greens Danny, Jeff & Gerald
I just dont think Love is a good fit for the Lakers, and I still doubt his overall impact on teams. I would also consider Rondo if he has drove his value down enough around the league. Someone is going to overpay Demarre Carroll and I hope it is not the Lakers. |

Butler is my most coveted FA, though restricted. Offer him the max. Kawahi is next on the list, but also looks like a tough get.
I wouldn't offer Love the max, maybe 10-14 mil if he really wants to play here. Vet min is likely (preferred) for Rondo. These seem like the most likely signings.
My back up pipe dream is B.Knight and D.Jordan, draft Towns and have Randle play point guard and coach ... _________________ Magic*Kobe*LBJ*AD*Cap |

The dilemma I see is, do the Lakers want to pay a premium in free agency in a Marc Gasol or LaMarcus Aldridge if Okafor/Towns and Randle pan out?
Why put our high draft pick in back burner?
Maybe Lakers should wait another year to see how our draft picks pan out.
If Lakers have to pay anyone, get a position they will need and that is SF.
So go hard after Leonard and Butler. Lakers will also need to target a SG next summer and the best I see is O.J. Mayo. Spend money on that. |

Gasol is a great fit as in style of play. But I wouldn't go after him. He's old... meaning I believe he's on the decline.
I would go after a SF as well.
Butler, Middleton, Harris... In that order. I just don't think Leonard or Green will leave San Antonio or Golden State. |

It's tough to see Aldridge or Gasol coming. Aldridge, if he leaves, probably heads back home to Texas (Spurs/Mavs).
I agree with those saying we need to get a max FA in place this summer while the cap is lower. Kevin Love seems to be the most realistic. If you can't get love, you split the max money on Green and Carroll.
Next summer, it's hard to see Durant coming in here instead of going to D.C. to join Wall and Beal in his hometown. Plus, next summer everyone and their mom has cap space...we might be waiting out/attempting a trade for a 2017 FA like Westbrook at that point. Meanwhile, Okafor/Towns develops, Randle plays the LO role off the bench, Clarkson has plenty of space to develop...and who knows, maybe we sneak into the playoffs and have some fun. |

There is no way that Chicago fails to match on Butler. They can't be that stupid. What we need to hope happens is that Butler pulls a Greg Monroe and just signs the one-year qualifying offer (which would pay him about $5.5MM next season if I'm not mistaken), which would make him an unrestricted free agent next summer, and then we can just PAY DAT MAN HIS MONEY!
It's the only realistic way that we can get him and not give up most of our assets, which would be stupid to do. |

It would actually make some sense that he'd do that given the cap rise _________________ Kobe |

it would...unless Thibs returns. I doubt Butler gambles on himself a second time with the minutes Thibs like to play him. |

IKR.
jeez hopefully rondo isn't even an option for the lakers. I'd seriously like to see Clarkson get a vote a confidence and be our starter. |

I'd like to make a run at Dragic. I think he'd be a great fit with Clarkson in the backcourt. Miami is a better team right now, but I think our future is brighter. Sell him on being the leader of this team once Kobe retires. Whatever money is left over I would offer to Ed Davis to be our main defensive big man. _________________ “This goes far beyond paychecks” |

He really fits in well with either Okafor or Towns. It would be cool to see them land a young possible franchise big and efficient PG since Howard and Nash didn't work out. He's a realistic option that would really help all the young guys this year. If they have a shot at Durant, he only helps. |

Stay away from Jeff Green... dude's a low percentage high volume shooter. His motors chugging on the low end these days. Ask Grizz fan's how they feel about him for honest feedback. |

They are good role players. Carrol could be our 3&D guy, he really improved his 3 point shoot in the last 2 years (39.5% this year). While Joseph is young (23) and looks like a very good complementary player to Clarkson since he is a defensive PG.
