This is how I hope the Laker off season pans out.

Draft:
# 2 Jahlil Okafor C
lakers trade 27 and 34 to 20
#20 Justin Anderson SF
lakers buy a pick from Philly and future pick for 35
#35 Danilo Fuzaro PG Brazil
assuming Lakers have 22m in cap space

Lakers opt out of Jordan Hill deal
Laker sign Ed Davis new deal 2y @ 12m- Davis is solid big in his prime can play 4 or 5 and can rebound and d up with the best of them....

Lakers sign Kris Middleton ton 3y 35 m contract
Aaron Brooks signs for exception

Lakers in 2015
C- Okafor, Davis, Sacre
PF-Randle, Black, Kelly
SF-Middleton, Anderson
SG- Kobe, Young, Brown
PG- Clarkson, Brooks, Fuzaro

thoughts guys?

You'd need to offer more to pry Middleton from the Bucks (if even possible) and Davis is not my first choice for a veteran center but I would consider a Middleton/Davis/Brooks/Anderson off-season a rousing success.

Although at #20 and #35 I'd choose RHJ and De Paula...but that's just nitpicking.

I think that you are quite optimistic expecting #27 + #34 = #20
Getting to #23 or #24 is probably a more reasonable expectation for #27 + #34.

What is the future pick that will be sent to Philly for #35?
They only have one First Round pick and #35 is their best Second Round pick.

This is the scenario I was floating on the FA thread (Dragic, C ( a t ) #2 and RHJ) and you'd still have enough left in theory to sign Ed Davis and then use the cap ex (I chose Wes, but any solid backup 3 or 1 will do). Lucas is interesting, do they stash him for a year?

As for the OP, I really like Anderson and would trade up to land him, anyone mocking him at 27 is way to wishful. He'd be an ideal defensive 3 but RHJ would be a good grab too. The Bucks could match that, but the depth and versatility at the 2/3 position of that depth chart looks GREAT. Davis as a rim protector and Brooks as a quick outside shooter help cap off a solid offseason. I'm holding out for a big FA, but those peices would help take pressure off of the two bigs.

I think the Lakers should go REAL hard after Aldridge & Love, selling them on the getting Durant after Kobe retires, so heading into the 2016 - 2017 season retooled and ready for a finals run:

C = Okafor
PF = Aldridge OR Love
SF= Durant
SG = ?
PG = Clarkson

I would not keep Lin, but would try and keep Davis,

If Aldrige and Love are off the boards, Dragic will be fine and bump Clarkson to SG

Actually, there is a point chart for NBA trades just like in the NFL. According to the chart, trading the 27th & 34th pick should net the Lakers the 16th pick or lower.

My POV is based on recent draft day trades.
Orlando Draft Overview

Quote:
TRADE 1: Orlando Magic acquire No. 10 pick Elfrid Payton from Philadelphia in exchange for No. 12 pick Dario Saric, a 2015 second-round pick and a 2017 first-round pick.

McDermott (#11) for Nujrkic (#16) + Harris (#19) along with the Bulls taking Randolph for a late Second Round pick.

BULLS ACQUIRE MCDERMOTT VIA DRAFT NIGHT TRADE

Quote:
Chicago receives McDermott, along with Anthony Randolph, a 6-11, 225-pound forward with six years of NBA experience, in exchange for its two first round selections—Jusuf Nurkic and Gary Harris, taken 16th and 19th, respectively—and the lesser of the Bulls’ two 2015 second round picks (Chicago’s and Portland’s).

Heat trade up for Shabazz Napier

Quote:
The Heat traded their first-round pick, No. 26 overall, and two second-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets to move up two spots to grab Napier with the 24th selection...

...The Heat drafted guard P.J. Hairston for Charlotte to complete the swap. Miami also gave the Hornets the No. 55 overall pick (Semaj Christon) in the second round Thursday, a 2019 second-round pick and cash considerations.

What value chart - formula did you use to arrive at #27 + #34 = #16?

Since Boston has #16 and #33, then they should be able to package that for #10 or better?

Lakers need to offer Leonard MAX, worst case scenario, Spurs match and their cheap asses bite the cap bullet.

If Lakers get him...

Okafor or Towns
Randle
Leonard
Kobe
Clarkson

Summer 2016, Kobe's 25 million off the books to build on a nucleus of Okafor, Randle, Leonard and Clarkson in free agency.

Sometimes I want to try to be as realistic as possible so here's my thoughts: I think that Okafor or Towns will be suitable for this team, either way you slice it, hands down. Now we have to fill other voids of importance on this team and those needs are simple enough to see.

SF, PG are the other obvious spots of importance.

So I think we should somehow give up #27 & #34 to get a solid young player in a trade or look to move up for one of those positions. Our only leverage on our team are:
Hill/Lin/Sacre/Young (which is not a lot but could mean something to a playoff team)
The Raptors are in serious need of back court depth, could we package the two picks for their #20 and get a better player not as low in the draft? It all remains to be seen...
I will say this, I believe that Indiana is going to surprise some people with their pick at #11. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Wisconsin Kids end up going higher than expected here, either Decker or Kamensky. If so look for Johnson to continue to drop further down, due to team needs. With George's injury last season there's a chance they will look to put the ball in someone else's hands and I doubt Johnson will be the one, but you never know...

I truly think we should focus on the PG and SF spots from a (Youthful) free agency point of view and trade the picks for whatever we can get unless we get extremely lucky at # 27.

So my team would look something like this:

Brandon Knight/Jordan Clarkson
Kobe Bryant/Ellington
Tobias Harris/Young
Julius Randle/Boozer
Okafor/Towns (Toss-Up)/Davis

That's about as realistic as I can be without just giving us every good available free agent out there...LOl

I like your idea, but only after Aldridge and Love turn down a Lakers Max. offer.

I'd be shocked if the Spurs didn't offer him a full max on the first day they can. Everyone knows there is a long list of teams that would be more than happy to pay him the max, so there isn't any negotiating room on price.

No way... I'm taking Leinard over both of them... Building around Oakfor, Randle, and Leonard...

Won't happen tho lol
