Zayat said he expected American Pharoah to retire from racing at the end of 2015.
His stud fee just went through the roof. This is why you don't geld thoroughbreds. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

A side by side of American Pharoah and Secretariat as they both ran their third leg of the triple crown at Belmont Stakes.

Secretariat was pretty good. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

Yeah, he had championship bloodlines...I believe he was descended from the 18th century horse Eclipse who never lost a race, and they stopped racing him because nobody was betting on the other horses. |

Turcotte never even asked Secretariat to run. He ran like it was a morning workout. |

Some horses don't have the right temperament unless they're gelded. Unfortunately, sometimes they're gelded before they even race. Kelso was a good example. Bad temperament so he was gelded. He hits the track and was one of the greatest horses ever.
Same with John Henry, but John Henry may never have seen the track if he weren't gelded since he was so hard to control. |

I know what you mean. I had a friend who had a horse that was difficult. He gelded him and the difference was immeasurable.
I personally didn't like what I saw, a spirited frisky horse, downgraded to a docile easy to ride pony. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Lost today, owner is thinking of retiring him before the Breeders Cup Classic to keep the stud fees high in case he loses another race. |

It was not a good idea to even run him in the Travers....no upside there, other than the purse of course. Not a big fan of the owner. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

He got greedy. The owner wanted to clean up all the $1m purses.
I don't think there are many other G1 tune ups with a $1m purse left before the Breeders Cup. The only other that I can think of is the Jockey Gold Cup but that would put him up against older horses. |
