Fact Towns got out rebounded by an 'unathletic' PG as you put it makes it even worst

Russell 8 pts, 6 ast, 5 reb, 4 stls.

He could be a triple-double guy.

lol Russell looked much better than Okafor. Ppl are getting too hung up on stats. Give him time to get comfortable. And yea, Russell out rebounding Towns was a surprise.

Disjointed. Doesn't look comfortable.

Towns looks fantastic.
towns was unimpressive. Getting out rebounded by a PG is (bleep) embarrassing.

@ChrisPalmerNBA:

After the game Karl-Anthony Towns pats the ref on the back and says "Nice job." He finished 12 pts, 3 rebs, and 9 FOULS.

This is why those "Per 40" stats are vastly overrated.

Didn't realize you can't foul out in Summer League. Probably should've ended up with 8 and 1 if he fouled out.

Someone tell this to Upshaw. I wanna see him more aggressive on the block!

I loved how Clarkson was playing, dude looks like he worked and looks quick as hell.

Russell looked like he was playing very nice and under control. Those 5 turnovers were not all his fault. Some passes were not expected.

These guys aint used to Russell passes. Tyrik out played Towns but I like the way Towns was playing. his passing was awesome. Dwight defense was good but his offense was ugly very ugly. disappointed our guards didn't look for Julius much.

*watching game again*

Watched the game on NBA Tv this morning (I'm in Australia) thought I would share my thoughts for those who didn't see it.

First of all it was a very frustrating game to watch fouls galore, 68 in a 40min game, refs were calling it tight.

Russell - Was pretty impressed, not the quickest as we all know and didn't get to the rim much, but his passing is first class, could have 10asts if others made shots. Also showed quick hands a few times, and can get his jump shot as ease, just missed a few that he would probably normally make.

Black - Played a solid game, is tough and played good D, rebounded well as usual, and no doubt looks like he will provide a solid back up during the season.

Randle - Wasn't a great game by Julius, struggled to finish some nice moves around the rim and was off from mid range too, and also only 5-8 fts. Has a super quick first step for a guy his size, only 1reb wasn't that good either. Played better in the 4th, which was promising. Would have been nervous and rusty, so not overly worried.

Clarkson - Was by far our best player, will have no trouble playing shooting or point guard. Showed the whole package in offense, hit a few 3's, mid range jumpers, got to the line and also finished well in transition too. He and Russell already seemed to have a good chemistry.

Nance Jr - Super athlete/full of energy, only played 11mins, so didn't get a great look at him as he tweaked a knee, but came back on court, so nothing major.

Upshaw - Had moments, blocked Towns a couple of times and also one of their guards, also showed a nice post move on Towns too. Would have condition, worth persevering with for sure.

Brown - Good Athlete, has good form on his jumper, play the most minutes of everyone, played ok.

Buycks - Played some good defence on Tyrus Jones, frustrating him. Didn't score or have an assist in 19mins of play though.

Overall they looked good in patches, there was plenty to take out of the game, but we must be realistic that these guys are super young and raw. The players that have played one or two seasons ie Clarkson, Black, LaVine, Lorenzo Brown, looked a class above the rookies.

I agree with Arrogant Frog's assessment of the young kids. They all seemed to show flashes of what they could be. Even Upshaw, which I hope we can keep him and develop him.

Imagine Kobe, Hibbert, Lou, Bass, mixed in with the youth. A line up of Clarkson, Russell, Kobe, Randle, and Hibbert is going to be pretty sweet with a nice mix of everything.

Russell. KAT showed some flashes of brilliance. But only getting 3 rebounds? Thats pretty rough. Im sure that will improve. But a player with his length should never have less than 7, ever.

We don't know yet. The seeded Tournament starts 7/15 and presumably the brackets will be filled out after today's games. I put a link to the brackets in the first post of the thread and added info to the thread title.

I'm trying to decipher the SPL Tourney schedule to find out when our Lakers play:

Game 1 - Today @5:30 vs. the Mavs

Game 2 (if we win) - Thursday @3:30 vs. the DLeague team
Game 2 (if we lose) - Friday @3:00 vs. the loser of Wiz vs. Jazz

Game 3 (if we win) - Saturday @3:00 vs. Heat, Hawks or Nuggets
Game 3 (if we lose) - Friday @5:30 vs. 76ers, Nets or Spurs

Semifinals (if we win) - Sunday @3:00

Finals (if we win) - Monday @6:00

So some team is going to be playing 3 days in a row toward the finals? Ouch.
