I know, Chicago can match, but, this would be pretty darn sweet.

Can't trust Lakersnation, but I'd love for this to have any semblance of truth. Bulls will match absolutely anything, so it's a moot point

Have to find a suitable trade for Chicago. Doubt lakers offer Randle so it would be clarkson/27/34/cap space for butler. Butler would have to be adamant about forcing his way to the Lakers. He's one of my fave players too.

The story originated from Adrian Wojnarowski.

Could Butler demand the Bulls not to match? I gotta think butler and his agent already have a plan in place to get to the team they want...

Bulls will probably sign him to a short term offer sheet and trade him later if things don't progress to a long term deal.

They can demand anything they want, doesn't mean the Bulls have any reason to listen.

Yup. I think we've covered this in the past as well.

It happened with Eric Gordon.

Only way Butler gets here is if he tells Chicago, "either you negotiate a S&T with the Lakers or I'm taking the QO and leaving next year".

The most we'd trade the Bulls would be #27, #34 and Swaggy P, I'm sure.

Yup. I think we've covered this in the past as well.

It happened with Eric Gordon.

Indeed, I remember Gordon coming out after signing the offer sheet and publicly begging the Hornets not to match. Said "my heart is in Phoenix", etc. etc.

They waited three days and matched without a second thought.

Butler would have to really threaten taking a QO. I can see him betting on himself. Look at his life. He is a confident (good sense) kid and survivor.

If that's the most we'd trade, we're screwed. Chicago is better off trying to spend a year convincing him to stay than taking that garbage deal for a max caliber player.

Clarkson/27thpick won't be enough. Randle would have to be in that deal.

Uggh. They have to keep reminding us that's the year we gave up a 1st round draft pick to get rid of Sasha Vujacic.

If we're making a list of top FA SFs to after, Butler is at the top of my list. Jeremy Lin that guy!

From the Woj Article:

Quote:
If there’s a player with the conviction to risk playing out the 2015-16 season for his $4.4 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent in 2016, it could be Butler. Nevertheless, that’ll be considered a long shot in the process.

How many people would care if Clarkson was apart of a possible S&T ploy to obtain Butler ?
