A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Cousins is a star, our youngsters are unknowns and the cap room useless. Call Vlade and ask him what it'll take |

Randle/Clarkson is more than fair value for someone like Cousins. |

Thank god the lakers FO wouldn't do that. They appreciate the value of assets and not putting all you eggs in one unproven basket. |

I think they would in - without hesitation. Especially now.
The problem is SAC wants Russ/#2 pick as well, and that's too much.
If we could pair Cousins with Russell - and have Kobe in there - I think Lakers take that running. They'd call it a great offseason. |

I would like to have Rondo personally. But, it might also be a good idea from strategic point to get Cousins.
The Kings can't have him to bolster their current roster.
Cousins has said he was the best point guard as of 2 years ago.
Kobe is also known to be fond of him.
We're going to need a PG if we deal Russell.
And to top it all off, it'll more than likely be a 1 year deal. If it works out, great. Sign him to a longer contract. If not, let him go. |

I don't see the Lakers moving Randle AND Clarkson for Cousins. Especially if the FO believes one of them can turn into a star of Cousins caliber according to those who want Cousins stats. I believe a lot of you undervalue Randle/Clarkson but don't believe that our FO does. |

Don't forget that Sacramento just made a whole lot of moves tonight to win NOW, not build a youth rebuilding movement. _________________ Endgame

Yup all their moves have been to support Cousins even if they are stupid in implementation. |

Everyone that wants to stand pat with our "young core" are basically saying we should tank.
The thing about that is our pick is only top 3 protected.
So you're hoping we suck so bad that we get a top 3 pick or we cross our fingers to move up like we did this year? That's the plan for some of you guys? 3 years in a row of being in the lottery is what you want? |

Lol the people who advocate trading our assets for cousins act like we would all of sudden turn into a playoff team. You realize that sacramento was picking 6th in the lottery right? Having Cousins on your roster guarantees you nothing so I don't know why Cousins fans are so vociferous about trading our assets for him. |

We want our young core to start building chemistry.
See 2008 Oklahoma City Thunder team.
They just drafted Westbrook and Ibaka to partner with Durant. In just 2 seasons they went from 23 wins to 50 wins the next.
That's what we want, not another tank. _________________ Endgame

This is the right way to rebuild. Russell, Randle, Clarkson play 30 to 35 mpg. |

this is lost on a lot of people... trying to win now would mean very little margin for errors on the rookies... Scott would bench them, let vets play, just to salvage wins... that would really derail the development of the kids.
Clarkson benefited a lot when Byron started to give him more minutes. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. Your missing the point. When you just hit rock bottom it takes some time to get back on top. This isn't going to happen overnight. FA will be hesitant to come here and it's not because of Kobe or Lakers front office mess. It's because Lakers are not winning. Last season was the worst in Lakers history and if we start heading the other way the FA will start looking towards LA.

Ask Golden State, they did the same thing by rebuilding through their draft with Curry, Klay, and Green.
Or better yet, the Spurs building through the draft with Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli. _________________ Endgame

They got Duncan by tanking. In fact they may have tanked harder than teams do these days. They were ahead of the curve on international players though. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

Exactly.
They didn't rush to trade Duncan for Alonzo Mourning or any immediate help for David Robinson.
They believed in their draft and the players they were drafting and it paid off big. _________________ The butter is getting hard. |

The problem with trying to replicate what the Spurs/Warriors/Thunder did is that they drafted players who won the league MVP! That's a tough thing to do and not something you can bank on. I think more realistic model is the cavs before Lebron came home. Irving is all-star caliber, Thompson a solid starter, waiters was ok coming off the bench as 6th man and they couldn't crack the playoffs in the east. |
