Nets fans are so grateful they have DLo lol. Total contrast from half our fans here wanting to get rid of him even in a BS deal. Then our FO starts acting like his worst haters. Maybe league will gift a #2 pick out of thin air since he's Magic! _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

Russell-LeVert combined for 32 Points, 14 Assists, 13 Rebounds, 4 steals.
Think that's their best back court. Crabbe a good option from the bench. LeVert is shooting awfully so far, but has been slashing well. He shot 32% from 3 last season so won't be shooting long at 12.5%. Dude has really good potential if he stays healthy. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

LeVert on Russell: "I don't know how he sees half the things he does."

Nets commentary folks were saying both have been really close right from the start. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

Eh.. I like Russell, but I don't think he's going to be great...and I also don't think his rep around the league with players is good - his game isn't eye-testy(players love Jamal Crawford still, lol) and the phone incident.....
he's going to be a 19/7 guy in his prime.. is he ever going to be a high 30s 3pt shooter? Ever going to be a plus defender, especially next to Lonzo?
Eh
He's gunna be legit good, but I really don't think players in the NBA love his game, nor DLo the person.. Think this was a big factor for Pelinka - I don't doubt he got some scoop from Kobe on what other players think, as well as himself.
Brook looks really good to me as well, could re-sign |

Nets assistant coach Chris Fleming was the head coach of German national team from 2015-17. He coached Schroder and co. They talked about this during the broadcast. Do we have any assistant coaches with that kind of CV? Player development will suffer if you only have buddies and keep it in the family staff. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

I'm so glad we have Lonzo. I don't know how I'd cope otherwise.
As is, I've grown used to rooting for the Nets to (bleep) over the Celtics, so this is just the cherry on top. |
Their 1st is with Cavs due to Kyrie trade. .. rooting for them to (bleep) over Cavs is also pretty fun |

I really don't think he has a lot of room to grow scoring the ball, it's dependent on his shooting and I haven't seen much improvement there since OSU. Passing he can still improve, I wouldn't doubt he hit 9apg, I'm high on him as a passer
And he's also getting these numbers on the most talent deprived teams in the league, he's all BK has right now, their roster is sad |

Towns, Booker love him. Nets boradcasters said him and LeVert have been inseparable since the trade. PG 13 singled him out as one of the players that impressed him during US training camp. This was after the phone incident. Carmelo was hanging out with him like buddies.

Doesn't look like any hate there. They know young kids make mistake and DLo wasn't the one who leaked it.
SAS said influential agents in the league don't like Pelinka and he was the weaklink in Lakers FO. So should Pelinka sack himself first to make us a better FO destination?
As for his game, like GT says his trajectory is really good for a guard his age. Rest depends on individual predictions. I don't see why he can't be a high 30s shooter 3P with his sweet form and skillset. We're seeing many guards with iffy jumpers and Cs that barely shot 3s nailing them all of a sudden. _________________ Showtime 2.0

Couldn't disagree more, 19 ppg is underselling his scoring potential. Mike Conley averaged 20.5 ppg last season. Russell can top that even without his shooting breaking out to be elite. And if his shooting ever does become truly elite (which is possible, though perhaps unlikely)... well 25+ isn't out of the question. |

For his age yes he's a good scorer. But just from my eye, I don't absolutely love his tools, nor his shooting form and whatnot.
Eh, I'm bullish on him as a passer, y'all love him as a scorer .. that's fine
I think his ceiling is 21ppg.. and I don't count on him hitting that, it'd take a considerable step up in shooting from all areas. But he could, its def possible. |

I'd say it's a weak theory considering Kobe himself was not known for socializing with players and most in the media said big players didn't want to play with him. I doubt he all of a sudden started taking a survey on DLo when he has other important things to do with his family life and business. DLO is actually the opposite of Kobe and known to get close to players. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

On that note --- Kobe definitely got way more sociable with players in his late years - espcially the mid 20 year olds who idolized him - he's something of a mentor to a lot of them. Paul George, WB, Thomas, Durant.. I don't doubt at all that he could have asked them how they felt about the Lakers.. |

Agreed. Just watching highlights of his game and not only is he more comfortable running the offense, but he's hitting the one shot that unlocks his entire offensive game, the pull up midrange jumper.
He looks like Ohio St. Russell.
I'm really annoyed how wing heavy the Nets are, especially with DAR leading, Dinwiddie is a solid combo guard that has some vision, and Caris LeVert.
All that being said, I think it REALLY helped that DAR got to "start over" and forge relationships with new teammates; set new first impressions. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

Magic is the one calling the shots still. And there's a news that Byron hugged him after DLo trade. They meet everyday as workout buddies. Let's not suddenly act like whole league is bothered about a kid when pics say otherwise. _________________ Showtime 2.0 |

I think in three games in an offense with better spacing he's been more successful attacking the basket (with a slicker handle), which will hopefully up his 2P% this season. That's improvement right there. And I do still have faith he can gain greater efficiency from three over time - a guard like Kemba Walker isn't such an outlier.
We'll see how DLo does, but I think he's a steady improvement guy rather than a big jump guy, and given that he's 4-5 years from starting his peak, I think steady improvement will get him to at least near All-Star level barring injury.
Also, I have no idea how popular he is with established NBA guys, but he is boys with the Monteverde crew, KAT, and DBook. He seems reasonably popular with his peers, so by the time he's 28, I don't think he'll have a lack of suitors - teams and players - when he hits unrestricted free agency. Again, we'll see.

He's got a good shot to hit those numbers this year at age 21. |
All of DLO's new teammates have spoken very highly of him and they hang out a bunch off the court as well. If Jeremy Lin thinks you're a good dude, I'm inclined to believe him |
