Obviously a very small sample size so far in February, but I like the progression from him since December. He (hopefully) will never be like Lou at getting to the line, but it'll be huge if he can maintain or improve upon this month's current FTr. With added strength to take hits from bigs and to overpower PGs in the post, he should be able to up his trips to the line, which is one of the few holes he has in his game.
Of course, he has to make the dang FTs...

I saw an article a while back, it was from Larry Lewis, talking specifically about D'Angelo, and it seems like the plan with his body is that they're emphasizing strengthening his legs and Lewis goes over game film with D'Angelo. I know that we always complain about the coaching staff being negligent/they don't know what they're doing, but it seems like they're doing the right things with Russell.
So long as they don't actually challenge Scott. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
Definitely bring in Miller in an MWP role next season, and let Huertas go back to Europe. Andre can help both DLo and JC (who is clearly missing Nash's mentorship this swason).
Most def. With DLO trying to use that post up game, perfect mentor.
Weren't there reports that Miller was a divisive presence (players v coaches) in the locker room? If so, we need him this season.
He's a bit of a lockerroom lawyer. But at this age, I think he's less chirpy about minutes and role. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

Much respect to Drew Garrison. He's doing a wonderful job of breaking down D'Angelo's game on silverscreenandroll.
For a "slow footed" guy with no "blow-by speed" or "athletic ability", he's doing a wonderful job of scoring in the paint. And he can kill you from the outside as well.

It's not really a hole. Lou only gets those calls because he flops like a fish.
D'Angelo can't take the paint as much as he'd like and we'd like to see him do because this team has such awful spacing. _________________ #CowboysNation

Not many people remember Rod Strickland but that's who Russell reminds me of the way they dribble and finish around the rim. Russell has a better jumper and is bigger but the move set is similar.

That's a fair comparison. He's a more juiced-up version of Strickland, but with a better shot.
I remember watching the Bullets when they had Chris Webber, Juwan Howard and Rod Strickland. So talented, but a big disappointment record-wise. They actually competed well against those historically-good bulls teams. Man, that was a fun team to watch when they were balling.

D'Angelo Russell (on TWC):
“I’m in love with this process. The bad, the ups & downs, the process of getting to where I want to be."
D'Angelo said he's been working on his game in the post lately w/ Lakers assist. coaches, wants it to become his "bread & butter" (on TWC)
D'Angelo said Kobe "trusted" him in the post: "He trusts me. That’s the best thing... He told everyone to move & he gave it to me"
I like it that Dangelo is utilizing his size against smaller pgs in the post. One of his post fadeaway was kobe-esque. I'm glad kobe is trusting Dlo too. And Dlo needs to be more aggressive when he's out there with kobe too.

D'Angelo Russell and post play. Those are GoldenThroat's two favorite things. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better”

Very nice. It really shows that cerebral players can get to their spots. He may not have a killer first step, but he uses his body and length well. It's nice to see that little floater working for him. _________________ LeBron, AD, & _________. Stay tuned.

I'm not obessed with the athleticism and quickness type stuff that many are. Give me a cerebral, fundamental player over athletic any day.
What I love about DLo's game, is that he plays with his brain I feel like. Not downplaying Westbrook but he to me seems like he's playing on pure fuel. I tend to prefer the ones that play cool and collected.
One of my fav Dlo plays is when he rides his defenders hip for a pullup jumper.
Russell would have the 3rd highest points produced per possession on drives in the entire league, behind Westbrook and Curry, and ahead of CP3, if he drove more often. His drive attempts per game are low however.
Can't wait until a new coach puts in modern NBA spacing, and they turn the keys to the offense over to him.
