Watching this game, I kept thinking DLO/Turner PnR would be a thing of beauty. Liking the confidence that DLO has in his low post game even when he threw up the near airball.

-Weird spot up two in transition after he got a steal.
-Floater in the lane off of a PnR.
-Spot up 3 off of a Clarkson PnR.
-Sick right hand layup in transition for an And-1 (made FT)
-Attacked in transition for FTs (split FTs)
-Pull up jumper off of a PnR.
-Posted up Monta and made a 17 foot fadeaway for an And-1 (made FT)

Thanks. Also who was he guarding for the majority of the game, Hill or Ellis?

Mostly Hill and Joseph Young.

I'd venture a guess it's because Reggie HEAPED praise on Russell during the NCAA tournament last year in both the VCU and Arizona games.

Here's an example:

After he went 1-9 I believe, he went 5-9 the rest of the way.

So beautiful. If he can perfect that shot, he'd be unstoppable against smaller guards.

The post game is a development I'm excited about with him. Fwiw if he got some calls I'm sure he'd be yielding a solid PPP from there. He already has the swing through foul drawing move down, refs just don't call it, he's gotta ditch that move for now.

This helps make him a matchup nightmare. He'll post PGs, and as his body develops, SGs won't be able to stay with his herky jerky moves off the dribble. He already shakes dudes when he gets iso opportunities , it kind of perplexes me as to how , but his moves are just so herky jerky that he shakes guys. It's awesome.

I think even despite BScott he's on course to having added a lot to his game this year.

Love the 4 steals.
Made very smart plays with his hands.
Great timing on passes and digging into the defender on the dribble.

Byron Scott is like the 30 pound vest you put on when you do wind sprints on a sand dune.

Once that Scott vest is taken off, he'll start flying.

DLo's best defensive outing of the season. It makes a HUGE difference.

Ya speaking of flying, he's gunna look amazing in transition next year. He's guna explode onto the scene for his passing there
Maclean called him the best passer he's ever seen bro

The midrange J and passing help him tremendously. Once he gets firing on all cylinders, he's going to be causing defenses a lot of problems from the top of the key in.

I predict we will see a much more physically explosive DLO next year. Get those skinny chicken legs strengthened too.

You know what, those are probably the factors I didn't account for that makes dudes so jumpy when he ISO's.
He has a chance to be so good!

He's always probing. Teams are really playing him for the pass right now and that's why a game like last night, missed shots seem to hurt more. But he made it up with an all-around game.

Really was thrilled with the D and the effort. Glad he remained aggressive offensively too.

They need to push the ball more.

We never seem to get out and run and secondly nobody knows where to be when we actually get up and go. The lane is always clogged on a fast break. The more I watch DLO the more impressed I am despite som bad shooting numbers ocassionally. He missed 2 shots he was fouled on(legit fouls on jumpers) and a Put back layup. Something I have noticed and hopefully he can start to exploit. When he does catch the 3 ball, he needs to jab step or pump fake and go hard. Find the soft spot. He shoots the 3 if it's there every time and he doesn't sell the shot well yet. Easy fixes and I'm sure he knows it's just a matter of putting it in.

Yeah. Those are things that come with experience.

He's come a long ways from October already. Picking up moves left and right. Just need the reps, especially in crunch time situations.
