Quote: | He is proud that Walton, from their first time together in offseason workouts, requested Russell's voice to break the team's huddles: "This is the point guard! He's the leader!" Walton bellowed. "When he speaks, guys, you gotta listen." Russell also is struck by how many veteran NBA players have vouched for Walton's character. "You got Luke, man," they told Russell with unmistakable warmth and even a tinge of jealousy. "You're gonna be good."

Excluding the draft picks, biggest move in last three off-seasons was Luke. He's setting up quite the foundation for the team and even the d-fenders.
Here's Draymond Green lamenting over Luke's eventual departure: http://www.csnbayarea.com/warriors/draymond-warriors-will-lose-walton-if-any-gms-are-smart
Amazing, amazing level of respect between those two. The bond between him and his players go beyond the game. |

I know I'm not the only who's shocked that Ding made a positive article on the state of the Lakers.... Yes? |

After dealing with the emotionally distant Scott, this has to warm Russell's heart a bit.
I can't wait until the season starts. |

If we find even a modicum of success in the next couple of years, developing guys and winning some games - stars will flock... I have no doubts about that.
2018 is going to be OUR YEAR (wait, when KAT is available?)! |

If these Young guys buy in and Improve every day I can see a Lakers championship very soon.
We are 1 star piece away from truly being contenders. |

Russell comes off as pretty humble in this article. Good stuff.
BTW that article IMO was terrible. There is no flow as he transitions from one point to another. It almost seems like there originally were subheadings and an editor removed them. |

Lakers2015 wrote: | D'Lo just looks poised for a big year. Just watching him in the second half of last season and even the summer league he just looks like a guy who is ready to break out this coming season. To me he has the highest ceiling on this team along with Ingram. Really to me both of them have superstar potential and will be one of the better duos in the game in a few years. |
you can just see Julius fuming at posts like this - which is totally awesome btw... people forget Julius dropped in the draft due to his foot and then promptly got injured his first year. We've actually got 3, #2 picks in the last 3 years with those guys, add in the Clarkson, Nance and Zubac picks and DLo is surrounded by a number of guys now who have good hands and can run the floor which will make him look a lot better and also Luke will allow him to make the flashy passes - as long as they are effective, so the energy should be off the charts this year. |

This piece by Ding is the best Luke article I've read all summer, and it's not even close.
