Really enjoyed the bit around 9:22 where DLO was in the huddle telling the team, "This is the ugliest game ever, we're still going to pull it out." He's def growing into more of a leader. Very excited for this upcoming year. |
Jesse's energy in those huddles is also contagious. |
That guy is all positive energy and heart. Gotta love him. |

He'll get higher quality looks off ball movement and motion action and there won't be as many isolations which makes it more difficult to double and triple a guy. |
i agree with this
looking at about a 30 game stretch last season from jan 1st to about mid march, these were his #s
15.2 PPG, 3.8 APG, 2.8 RPG, 1.1 SPG 45% FG, 40% 3FG, 74% FT in 28.1 MPG
he started only the last 10 games out of these 31 games
in those last 10 games where he started these were his stats
21 PPG, 4.8 APG, 3.2 RPG, 1.1 SPG, 47% FG, 46% 3FG, 74% FT in 32.8 MPG
grant it these are pretty small sample sizes, but still lol, anything to get me even more hyped at this point haha
can't wait to see what dlo does with luke at the helm now |

If you average out both those statistics you get
18.1 PPG 4.3 APG 3.0 RPG 46% FG 43% 3FG 74% FT 30.4 MPG
That would be a fantastic 2nd year stat-line for him. |

From a scoring standpoint yes, but I expect him to average more assists in this system. |

I expect more rebounds, he is a really good rebounder, everything else looks fine. |

2016/17 season | I think this is a little too high. I'd say more like...
20pt
7 assists
5 rebounds
1.5 steals |

In before somebody says, "this proves he's not a point guard, he's a shooting guard."

Add 2-4 points to last year's average with better shooting percentages across the board and better defense... I'm happy. _________________ "He may say it's not you, it's him.... but it's really you." |

Hoping? Wins are the only thing I ever hope for. I was just guessing what he would average. That line seems easy. Imo he will throw a bunch of high 30 games and possibly a couple 40 pt games out there. I predict 11 triple dubs this year |

I didn't know it was easy to be first team all NBA... cause that's what he'd be with those numbers. I really hope you're right but I don't know if he'll EVER put up those numbers let alone do it this year. |

Lakers' D'Angelo Russell might have coach, teammates willing to let him lead
Quote: | Walton conceded Russell had “some questionable moments” during Wednesday’s scrimmage before refering to some defensive miscues as “normal stuff.” Russell has sought advice from veteran point guards Marcelo Huertas and Jose Calderon on how to run pick-and-roll properly. And the Lakers will try to balance between coaching and empowering him to run the offense as he sees fit. “I always felt I had the leadership qualities as far as being a leader or leading a team. But at the end of the day, I’m a young guy,” Russell said. “I don’t really know what it takes to be as successful as I want to be. Then you have veteran guys that do. It’s about listening to those guys, learning from your mistakes and learning from the coaching staff. There’s a lot I can really gain.” 3 hours ago – via Orange County Register |

Quote: | “I don’t really have the credibility or experience,” Russell said. “So what I say goes through one ear and out the other.”
“He’s been great. He’s been professional. He’s been vocal,” Walton said following Thursday’s practice at UC Santa Barbara. “He’s doing everything we’re asking.”
“He’s more talkative and he understands the game more now,” Lakers reserve guard Lou Williams said. “Last year, he was more quiet because he was still trying to learn. Now that he’s had a season under his belt, he understands where he wants the basketball and how to run the offense.” |

My expectations are for Dlo to improve across the board from his rookie season. I strongly believe he will be the engine that makes this team go. _________________ Music is my medicine |

Quote: | If Fultz were left-handed, you wouldn’t hear his name all season without hearing “D’Angelo Russell” mentioned as a comparison somewhere in the same sentence.
The Russell parallels seem particularly apt since Fultz figures to play the same role for Washington this season that Russell played at Ohio State in 2014–15. That, of course, is to say that Fultz will probably have little to no help and will be asked to do pretty much everything for the Huskies. That was certainly the case during Washington’s August tour of Australia and New Zealand, where in the final game of the trip Fultz put up a stat line of 20 points on 28 shots (!!!), eight rebounds, five blocks, and four assists while playing 35 minutes. It’s too soon to know for sure, but there’s a decent chance that Fultz playing 35-plus minutes and attempting 20-plus shots in games will have to be a common occurrence for Washington to have any hope at making the NCAA tournament.
|
Interesting comparison.
