32 was my prediction before the season as well. But IMO, they showed themselves to be capable of more prior to the injuries. They weren't just hot from the field or something, they were legitimately outplaying good teams frequently enough to raise my expectations.

I had the same expectations and agree that when healthy they are capable of more. Problem is we seem to have an injury bug as usual. FO really needs to look at investing more money in the training staff

If we can avoid any more key injuries, then once this tough stretch of the schedule is behind us we need to go on a few 3-5 game winning streaks to have any chance of competing for a playoff spot. When healthy, I think we can do it just based on what we've seen already, especially when you factor in the kind of in-season improvements that young teams can make.

This is definitely encouraging. I hope he's back up to 100% asap.

Target date for his return is Monday vs. Sacramento. Same is probably true of Nick Young.

Especially if we can win at least 1 and possibly steal even 2 of these next 3 games. Houston is going to be tough, Phoenix is winnable, and New York is a possibility. We'll see what happens. 11-15 or 12-14 would put us in good position to surge when our key players are back healthy.

Yep. The fact that we are 10-13 with the roster not healthy in most of those games is amazing..

Coincidentally, Calderon is 41% from 3pt land.

Thats why i want to see all three guys start. How do you stop Randle with so many 3pt shooter around him?

It also keeps the bench intact.

Randles game has fallen off since Russell got injured, it's no secret why the team talked about missing Russell cause he brings everyone together.

Its not just DLO.....we also lost HIS backup in Calderon.....then we also lost Swaggy

Im tellin you Huertas should NEVER see the court......he has no offensive game at all.....turns the ball over a ton.......and plays no defense

No wonder why we are losing

Honestly though, if we never see Calderon either, we'd be better for it.

I want to frame this post. Julius Randle becomes a very dangerous player when you surround him with shooters. His game was taking off to start the season. He's getting slammed for his play right now, but he's really the only offensive threat in the starting lineup. That's tough for a guy with an on-and-off shot.

That's an interesting lineup. Calderon, DLo, Young, Randle, Mozgov

This would also probably lead to Deng getting DNP-Coach's decision a lot. He doesn't fit well with the fast-paced bench also (or any NBA lineup it seems).

Fingers crossed. I'm gonna be bummed if we're in mid-April with 35 wins and wondering what could have been. Although that would still be a successful season, IMO.

I was expecting 27 wins and 30~32 wins as an absolute best case scenario.
If we are at 35 wins in mid April(and it seems very likely we will be able to even with injury problems), I will be absolutely thrilled with the rapid progress we are making.

At the same time, I can't help to think what this laker team would look like if 1) Dlo, NY were healthy and Deng could contribute at all.
All of sudden, 8th seed seems very moderate expectation.

I was/am fascinated by idea of Fultz/Dlo backcourt but there's nothing like a
PO basketball with Lakers in it.

With all this anticipation lets hope DLO shakes the rust off real fast. Nick Young too.

Just organizing the offense, making the opposing defense think twice about clogging the middle, and allowing that bench unit to play intact again will do wonders for this team's ability to compete.

After this whole ordeal I hope someone tells DLO to take it easy on the heavy squats. Don't go past 90 degrees! Keep it under a half ton!!

Luke Walton said Nick Young and D'Angelo Russell went through shootaround today. They are out for tonight, but were cutting today.

Walton wants to see Russell/Young go through a competitive practice before playing; at least 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 going all out, cutting, etc.
