In the event Clarkson/DLO start together, who will primarily guard SGs/PGs?

DLO according to DX has a 2 inch longer wingspan, and 4 inch greater standing reach than Clarkson. I think he's better suited length wise to guard SGs? I think Clarkson has greater agility/lateral quickness to stay in front of PGs.

Eventually it may be DLO, but in the near term he may need to bulk up before he can take on some of the stronger SG's.

Yeah. Perhaps DLO will use his length and smarts to give some PGs space b/c he isn't the quickest laterally.

Rubio is among the better defenders from the PG position, and he's not exactly explosive.

Speaking of which, he should he a good test and learning experience for DLO on opening night.

I think Russel should take the better guard regardless of position most of the time. He is longer and a better on ball defender IMO. Clarkson often struggles on ball but loves to try and get in the passing lane off the ball so I think letting him do that as much as possible will be beneficial. With that said, against teams with exceptional backcourts like the Warriors I would probably put Russel on the two simply because both guys can score and Russel has the length to match-up.

If they're relatively interchangeable defensively, with neither player being significantly better than the other at defending a particular type of player, I want Clarkson defending whomever is up top. I want him leaking out into transition, and Russell squeezing down on the defensive boards, ready to start the fast break. I think that makes the best use of their talents, but again, that's largely predicated on there not being many huge discrepancies in what they can do defensively.

We are spoiled. I am spoiled with winning championships. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes, however DLO in my opinion does not have the clout yet to speak on the the Laker fan base. Like most rookies keep your mouth shut and earn the right to speak about Kobe, fans, etc.

well said... but Russell doesn't have to shut up, maybe just think before he "speaks his mind"... this reminds me of getting real goes bad. lol ...
calling Lakers fans "spoiled" is not a classy thing to do and won't win him any "fans", especially since he has not accomplished anything to make the fans proud.

And we Lakers fans can't have a thicker skin than to be offended by a 19 year old kid? (let alone if you actually read the context of the comments, it's not even "offensive" at all)?

I wasn't offended. I just thought it was a punk move to call your "fans" spoiled. For sure though, I am not going to pretend like a rookie calling "fans" spoiled is a good thing.

Lakers fans aren't spoiled at all. They merely demand that you become the driving force behind five championships first before you're allowed to call them DUMB and, yes, SPOILED.

Is that too much to ask?

umm... Kobe and Magic calling fans dumb and spoiled, does not make it right.

Why in the world would you want a Laker draft pick to fail ffs... Put your misplaced ego aside and be a fan of the team.

He's a player development guy, kind of like Ganon Baker, who might be the most well known. Basketball skills combined with ladder/agility stuff, jumping rope, that sort of thing. The good ones make bank and he's definitely one of the good ones. Russell probably flew him out on his dime.

No, it seems pretty clear that some root desperately for him to fail. He is an avatar of something they don't like.

I dunno I haven't really picked up on that but who knows, plenty of fans don't like certain players in the league, but I'm sure any laker fan wants this kid to be amazing.
