In the event Clarkson/DLO start together, who will primarily guard SGs/PGs?
DLO according to DX has a 2 inch longer wingspan, and 4 inch greater standing reach than Clarkson. I think he's better suited length wise to guard SGs? I think Clarkson has greater agility/lateral quickness to stay in front of PGs.
Eventually it may be DLO, but in the near term he may need to bulk up before he can take on some of the stronger SG's.
Yeah. Perhaps DLO will use his length and smarts to give some PGs space b/c he isn't the quickest laterally.
Rubio is among the better defenders from the PG position, and he's not exactly explosive.
Speaking of which, he should he a good test and learning experience for DLO on opening night.
I think Russel should take the better guard regardless of position most of the time. He is longer and a better on ball defender IMO. Clarkson often struggles on ball but loves to try and get in the passing lane off the ball so I think letting him do that as much as possible will be beneficial. With that said, against teams with exceptional backcourts like the Warriors I would probably put Russel on the two simply because both guys can score and Russel has the length to match-up.

If they're relatively interchangeable defensively, with neither player being significantly better than the other at defending a particular type of player, I want Clarkson defending whomever is up top. I want him leaking out into transition, and Russell squeezing down on the defensive boards, ready to start the fast break. I think that makes the best use of their talents, but again, that's largely predicated on there not being many huge discrepancies in what they can do defensively.

I'm compelled at the moment to back Russell's comments about Laker fans being spoiled. At least from what I've seen on this site, our fans are way too impatient. And so Russell's remark is fitting and feels just! realleh
We are spoiled. I am spoiled with winning championships. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes, however DLO in my opinion does not have the clout yet to speak on the the Laker fan base. Like most rookies keep your mouth shut and earn the right to speak about Kobe, fans, etc.
well said... but Russell doesn't have to shut up, maybe just think before he "speaks his mind"... this reminds me of getting real goes bad. lol ...
calling Lakers fans "spoiled" is not a classy thing to do and won't win him any "fans", especially since he has not accomplished anything to make the fans proud.
And we Lakers fans can't have a thicker skin than to be offended by a 19 year old kid? (let alone if you actually read the context of the comments, it's not even "offensive" at all)?
I wasn't offended. I just thought it was a punk move to call your "fans" spoiled. For sure though, I am not going to pretend like a rookie calling "fans" spoiled is a good thing. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. Lakers fans aren't spoiled at all. They merely demand that you become the driving force behind five championships first before you're allowed to call them DUMB and, yes, SPOILED.
Is that too much to ask?
umm... Kobe and Magic calling fans dumb and spoiled, does not make it right. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. if there is anything to enjoy, I will... other than his cringe-worthy one-liners, the good things are yet to be seen. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups. It isn't good PR. But maybe these players are on to something...

who is this robbie dude? Ball handling specialist?
He's a player development guy, kind of like Ganon Baker, who might be the most well known. Basketball skills combined with ladder/agility stuff, jumping rope, that sort of thing. The good ones make bank and he's definitely one of the good ones. Russell probably flew him out on his dime.

I doubt anybody wants him to fail, some people just have different expectations for him.
No, it seems pretty clear that some root desperately for him to fail. He is an avatar of something they don't like.
I dunno I haven't really picked up on that but who knows, plenty of fans don't like certain players in the league, but I'm sure any laker fan wants this kid to be amazing.
