Just FYI:

Clarkson/ Russell/ Ingram/ Randle/ Nance give up ~126 points per 100 possessions, which is would be the worst in NBA history by a mile. It's not actually any better with Zubac though.

If anything, replacing Randle with Nance would be intriguing to me, but for whatever reason it seems that won't happen.

Tox, I never bought the concept that either Nance or Julius are viable small ball C. Nance lacks the strength to hold position, Julius defensive awareness is nonexistent and neither can shoot to provide space. I'd like to see how Nance performs with starters, you are a BPM guy and it shows he is a valuable asset without great individual numbers. What can go wrong giving him a 5 games opportunity to show what he can do with our starters?

That Nance/Randle big man tandem has been horrendous for 2 seasons. They don't even add anything offensively. Whats the point, hoping they develop into a good combo?

I believe they are a combo just in Luke's mind with his small ball addiction. I'm not against small ball lineups if you have 5 players able to pass, shoot, defend bigger players and run the floor. When you have players like Nwaba, Nance, Julius, Black, Robinson and Brewer that can't shoot to save their lifes, guards that can't stay in front of anyone, low collective IQ ... I don't think it works.

Yeah. I mean in theory it works. If we had Summer League Nance (hyperactive, steal machine who also was a legit rim protector) and Charlotte Randle (hyperactive at shutting down PnR, legit rim protector), their speed as the back line would be crazy. But neither plays up to his defensive potential (Nance has good fundamentals always but has inconsistent energy).

But yeah, they don't have enough offensive skills for them to actually add anything on offense yet lol. That's the disappointing part about this season. I think most of us had hoped they'd both be consistently shooting 3s this season, even if it's only at a 30-32% clip.

Well like any other stats, I think Nance's BPM is dependent on the role he plays in. Put him in the wrong role and even Nance would have a shoddy BPM. I think Nance as a center, alongside Clarkson/ Russell/ Ingram/ Randle, is probably the wrong role.

With that said, as you said, what can go wrong? Doesn't hurt to try it out. In fact, if the experiment fails, that might actually be a success. So I hear you.

Off topic, but Nance is a good shooter on 2k17... he has what it takes to be 1 if he works on it during the summer.

So that Nance/ Randle backcourt was an abject failure?

Frontcourt.

And based on the beginning of the game against the Clippers I'd say yes

Maybe they just need final confirmation that it's a disaster, although forming a judgement based on anything at this point in the season seems absurd. Luke's really descended into the Byron realm of coaching; throw anything against the wall regardless of data and hope it sticks.

I am not so sure. Not a Chris Paul fan, but his exchange with Nance was telling, his head was not in the game.

Yeah frontcourt, thanks. Although part of me wants to see a Randle/ Nance backcourt for tank purposes
They looked better today but I suspect it's going up against... Wright and Ennis? Whoever their frontcourt is lol

Man, he's gonna be so much better and appreciated when we have a winning team. With more experience and development in certain areas (confidence in his shot!), I could totally see him as a key role player on a championship contender. And we got that with the 27th pick...

Nance is the kinda player that plays 20 min and does the little things that help you win in close games. He's good when the Lakers are good. When it's not games like that, Nance looks like a ghost. He reminds me a lot of a Matt Barnes type minus the fake tough guy role. Barnes early in was an energy guy that looked great and looked lost. Nance looks that way to me.

Larry's effort was legit tonight, as was his bench energy - he had the best Julius pantomime after Randle faked out Pau for a layup.

Paul got fouled and walked to the line. Nance was yelling that he was passing, not shooting. You could hear Paul saying "we are in the bonus young man, get your head in the game". No big deal but Nance wasn't aware of the foul situation, when that is important for player's to keep in mind.

Really nice game by Larry tonight, he was aggressive.

Larry's defense has been solid all year.

3 more steals tonight (7 points, 11 rebounds).

He is the anti-tank.

After Clippers game we are rolling with Nance as starter. I'm preaching for him to start all season long, he makes us a better team.
