I’m most interested in seeing Nance against firstline centers.
Can Nance and Randle (and Bogut and a shooting Center) be the four-headed Center that, collectively, gives this team everything that it needs?
Lopez, for me, would probably be done for the year, or at least until I’ve gotten an adequate look at Nance and Deng there. If they both fail miserably at Center, I’d bring Lopez back, but if they were solid, Lopez’d B in streetchlothes the rest of the way.
As much as we hate on him starting and being Luke's pet, he always seems to be an advanced stats darling. His numbers stand out, not just among the forwards but the entire team. Clearly he must be doing something right from a team standpoint?

We are +5.1 per 100 better offensively with Larry off the court and only worse by 0.3 defensively without him making him a net negative -4.8 so far this year. The 'little things' he does apparently isn't enough to overcome his other deficiencies on offense.
I like Larry as a role player and would do wonders in the right lineup. I love his hustle and his team-first mentality but this whole 'doing the little things you need to win' narrative by Luke needs a closer inspection with regards to the actual effects it has to our chances of winning.

How do you know that +5.1 without him on the court isn't because he's playing next to, say, Lonzo who has struggled mightily scoring the ball?
Individual +/- is generally not a good stat for reasons like this.

Nothing is set in stone this early in the season. But Nance so far is the worst among the starters with 97.3 offensive rating when he's on the floor.
Now as to who among Zo, Nance, or even *gasp* Ingram who has the team worst(among those who has played significant minutes) -6.3 net on/off off-rating, is to blame for the starter's struggles offensively would be difficult to say for certain.
But one thing we got to see first hand was how the starting lineup performed when Nance was out and replaced by Kuz. Kuz was plugged in the lineup, everyone remained the same, and the result? The Kuz lineup significantly outperformed the one with Nance offensively 100 to 97 (95.9 before the warrior's game) and even defensively.
Couple that with good ole eye test and we can make a very informed guess that Nance's intangibles just might not be enough to move the needle.

I don't doubt the lineups are better with Kuzma instead of Nance at the 4. The point is that +/- in general is just a noisy stat and you can't use it to draw conclusions. The eye test is honestly more interesting, but even then it's easy to underrate the impact of the little things Nance does.
RPM would be a good stat to look at Nance's impact, but right now it's unduly influenced by past years so I think RPM is overrating Nance right now.

I love how Nance plays the game, he is great! BUT, with the severe lack of shooting in our starting lineup, Kuz needs to start over Nance just balance things out. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss
