If he can shoot as well as he did in college in the NBA he will have a solid long career.

He's the anti-Nick Young, or Swaggless-P. Bizarro world Nick. Hopeful in his contributions to the team and has a high BBQ and motor. He should make us forget the traumatic memories of Wesley Johnson soon enough.

Big fan of this pick by Mitch! If he selected Brown with 27 and Nance with 34 I think there would be less noise. Either way, we got someone that I think could be a better shooting version of Ariza. Ariza had 2-3in more in wingspan/reach tho DX shows a better max vertical for Brown.

I'll give Mitch the benefit of the doubt on the Nance pick. I preferred RJ Hunter, Looney or Christmas. Nance is an athletic freak so I'll glad to be wrong.

Much calmer in this interview. I think the "deer in the headlights" was just the massive media presence in the Press Conf. He seems like grounded, humble kid. Mitch seems to do thorough job on the background check on character on these guys (save for 1 tweet).

I don't think Brown is anywhere near the athlete that Ariza is/was. He doesn't have to be though. He just needs to knock down open 3s, minimize mistakes and hold his own on D. Seems like he's more than capable.

Anybody who wants us to waste 5+ million on athletic 3&d wings in free agency needs to read the writing on the wall with this pick. This kid is 23 and shot over 44% from 3 multiple years in a row. He IS Danny Green.

That Stanford education really shines through when he speaks.

And I lol'd when he said his friends ran out the house when they called his name in the draft. I recall 2 moments when I did that: Fisher's 0.4 shot, and game 7 when we beat the Celtics. I literally ran out the room in excitement. But hearing your name called when your favorite team is up in the draft? Can only imagine how that must've felt.

He can be. But he needs some experience first. Why not bring in the real Danny Green to show him the ropes and be available to contribute immediately?

Chandler can mentor Upshaw

Chandler $11M
Green $11M
Farmar (min)
Fernandez/Wright/Aminu (room)

Clarkson/Russell/Farmar
Bryant/Young/JBrown
Green/Aminu/ABrown
Randle/Kelly/Black
Chandler/Upshaw/Sacre

Young team with a solid vet presence

Mitch Kupchak calls Anthony Brown “one of the better shooters in the draft”

Kupchak fell in love with Brown’s versatility and his 44.1 percent from three-point range in the past two seasons, leaving Kupchak to imagine great things on how that will translate on his own team.

“We consider him one of the better shooters in the draft,” Kupchak said of Brown. “We think he can play multiple positions with shooting guard, small forward and is versatile enough to bring the ball up the floor with some pressure.”

Not a bad pick for a 2nd round... but the best shooter in the draft is probably gonna be DEVIN BOOKER picked no.13 by Phx.. that boy's stroke and confidence is money.

Lakers Draft 2015: Anthony Brown's dream comes true with the Lakers

"For me growing up as a Lakers fan it's surreal to me," Brown said of being selected by the team he grew up rooting for. A lot of players claim to have been fans of whatever team they are selected by, but Brown established his long-time fan credentials when he name dropped the station Lakers games used to be broadcast on before their current deal with Time Warner Cable Sportsnet. "I can remember watching the games on KCAL9," Brown said, while specifically mentioning the Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant led victory over Allen Iverson's Philadelphia 76ers in 2001 as a highlight.

no this pick make sense. didn't pass on a franchise changing center here, or draft a rookie who bashed Kobe like a kid

I'm tired of hearing people saying/alluding that okafor is generational big man.

While yes he was a fantastic college player, he hasn't played a single NBA game.. Neither has Russell.

But I didn't work out Russell nor Okafor. Give the front office the benefit of the doubt man.

How does his shooting compare to RJ Hunter, supposedly one of the best shooters in the draft and picked right after Nance?

both are streaky

Hunter is a career 35% shooter from 3, though only 30% in last season
Brown is a career 40% shooter from 3, with 45% and 44% in his last two seasons

This is a rare instance where drinking the Kool-Aid is acceptable. It comes with the BBQ.

The thing about RJ Hunter is that his percentages suck, and he's mostly known for his shooting. 30% from the college 3 is terrible.

Yeah I have done almost zero research into Hunter but those stats really surprised me. I thought he was supposed to be a pure shooter lol
