I really really really want this guy to get over his drug issues and be a Laker long term

If that happens then that means we've basically gotten FOUR lottery talent players in the last two drafts - Randle, Russell, Clarkson and Upshaw

That's a quick way to rebuild your team!

I like his size, definitely a true NBA center physique. These videos look nice but don't mean much, we want to see him in with the big boys and see if he can survive in the NBA. Main thing is can he keep his head on straight.

Upshaw without the drug/mental issues goes 6th overall in this year's draft

For me Upshaw is the most intriguing player in the draft because you don't know what to expect from him.

Ok lets compare some numbers and last years stats:

Towns: HT: 6-11 / WT: 250 / Wingspan: 7' - 3.25"

Upshaw: HT: 6-11 / WT: 255 / Wingspan: 7' - 5.25"

-------------------------------------------------------------

Towns: Ppg: 10.3 / Rpg: 6.7 / Bpg: 2.3 / Asp: 1.1

Upshaw: Ppg: 10.9 / Rpg: 8.2 / Bpg: 4.5 / Apg: 0.5

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Towns: Fg%:56.6 / Ft%: 81.3

Upshaw: Fg%: 59.3 / FT%: 43.4

If this guy could get motivated and can stay clean, Lakers could have the steal of the draft!

Not sure why NBA.com has the Celtics taking him..lol:

http://www.nba.com/celtics/draft/profile-robert-upshaw

But they liken him to KG...!

Imagine if we had draftd Looney (injury problems though) and signed Christian Woods.

Won't that be like 6 lottery talents

Summer League baby.

July 10th: Upshaw vs. KAT
July 11th: Upshaw vs. Okafor
July 13th: Upshaw vs. Porzingis

*cue eminem's Lose Yourself*

This is his shot to show what he can do against the top big men in the draft. Throw it down big man!

Everybody should look at the per 40 stats in this article.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2509508-why-robert-upshaw-can-be-steal-of-the-2015-nba-draft-for-los-angeles-lakers

I'm not kidding with Upshaw skills/talent wise being the 3rd best Center in the draft. He is that good.

And he has a big chance to prove himself to be just that or better in those SL games against Towns, Okafor and Porzingis.

You got this Upshaw. We're rooting for ya!

No doubt Upshaw has the potential to be the best big coming from this draft. But that is, if he can eliminate his inner dark side.

Or he could just pull a Scott Pilgrim.

How likely is it that Upshaw performs well in the SPL and then signs with another team? Already feeling kind of anxious...

We are starving for a center. Why would we let someone outbid us?

I hope this guy has his head straight because the only player who can match his intensity is Jordan.

I guess a team can offer up to the max for him, in theory?

As impressive as Upshaw's upside is, I don't see the kind of outlandish athleticism that the centers of the 90s displayed a la Shaq, Robinson, etc.

What is Upshaw's ceiling here? Mutombo with a better touch? a taller Theo Ratliff?
