Yes he looks rejuvenated. Schenn worries me a little. Yeah, he's a big guy and he is pretty good on the PK. But on a regular shift, he reminds me of Matt Greene a bit. Which is to say that he isn't the most fluid skater and not the best puck-mover. I mean, he's certainly not bad, but I just wonder if he's an improvement on the guys we were playing when it's 5-on-5. I suppose time will tell.
It was a good win tonight. We were just holding on for dear life at the end. Got very lucky they didn't tie it up late. |
With Greene pretty much out for a long time, it's no surprise why Dean went after a younger clone. Greene's still an alternate captain so that leadership is still missing, but Schenn certainly fills his niche. I had tickets to tomorrows game but decided to let someone else enjoy sitting behind the Kings bench in a charity raffle. :| |
Yes it's definitely not a surprise. And ultimately I trust that Darryl Sutter knows a hell of a lot more about what's good for his team than I do, that's for sure!
I watched some of the Kings-Ducks game back on TV late last night, after having actually attended the game. Lecavalier looked as good on TV as I thought he did in person. Just looked lively and skilled. Hope he can play like this for the rest of the season. |
I've seen LeCavalier's play with the Lightning, this is the closest he's been since then. Maybe the change of scenery and chance for another title is putting the spark back in those old legs. He could be what Mike Richards was supposed to be (Thanks Flyers!). Just need another ex-Blue Jacket and our title run is confirmed! |
I'm not sure what else the Kings could be thinking as far as trade upgrades. I suppose a true top-6 forward wouldn't hurt, but they would probably have to move Gaborik or Brown out to get that accomplished. My guess is that this is what they will go to war with, and I think it's certainly enough to get it done. |
At this rate, I'l settle for whoever's at the end of Columbus's bench just for a lucky charm. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Was watching some of the Ducks-Wild game tonight when it was a commercial in the Laker game. They said on the telecast that Ryan Getzlaf has not scored an even strength goal in his last 56 games. How is that even possible? |

Tells you how bad he's been this year. He's not really a goal scorer so much as a playmaker. But even this year's been pretty low after a long drought. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Really hope Gabby bounces back, we need him. Brown I have 0 faith. He is what he is. Also it's amazing how Vinny keeps scoring. When Vinny skates it looks like he has sand in his skates, but he can sure score. |

6 games in 9 nights. Brutal. I'll take 3-3 and a 9 point lead in the division.
Time to take care of COL on Wednesday and get some rest during the all-star break. |

I just hate games like this. We are totally dominating them and we're losing 4-3 because of some stupid penalties and mental mistakes. Really pisses me off. |

On the positive side, Vinny Lecavalier looks outstanding. Totally looks reborn in a King uniform. |

I'm an Avs season ticket holder and what you just said is the story of our season. Most of our games are won by Varly standing on his head and hoping we make few enough mental mistakes to win. Our offense is really good, but our defense is terrible.
Reffing was pretty bad on both sites last night and I was honestly clenching my bunghole for the last few minutes of the game, especially when you pulled Quick. Kings are a scary good team. |

Even Pickard was in pure god-mode last night. Couldn't believe he stopped that glorious one-time chance for Kopitar with 5 seconds left. |

Kings completely embarrass the Boston Bruins last night, and then place Ehrhoff on waivers today. Too bad Dustin Byfuglien already signed his extension. He would've been a perfect fit on the Kings as a top-4 defenseman, but not at that salary. Kings' penalty killing hasn't been that great this season. I'm hoping they can make some tweaks to shore it up. |

Buff would've been the ultimate pickup but he likes Winnepeg and they need franchise players to sell tickets. Sad that Ehrhoff couldn't gel and get back into form after his injuries. Now a vet D-man is even more necessary. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

http://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-trade-deadline-predictions-40-potential-deals/
Quote: | To Los Angeles Kings = Fedor Tyutin
To Columbus Blue Jackets = Christian Ehrhoff and Kevin Gravel
ANALYSIS: Tyutin’s apparently on the block and a few teams are watching him, including the Red Wings. The Kings already traded for Luke Schenn and that has worked out well thus far, so another defence-first guy like Tyutin could be a welcomed addition in L.A. The Kings waived-then-demoted Ehrhoff, so he’s obviously available for next to nothing. Gravel got called up to take Ehrhoff’s place, but that promotion might also be a showcase for a trade. Gravel is kind of becoming this year’s Colin Miller, a late-blooming defender who is on the cusp of being NHL-ready. It seems unlikely the Kings would go into the playoffs with Gravel in the lineup, so expect another addition (or two) on the back end. The Blue Jackets may prefer a mid-round pick over Gravel in return. |
I'd love for this to happen. Plus, we can't have a SC run without a CBJ trade. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif

Great move by Lombardi.
Scuderi's a disciplined tough as nails stay at home d-man that fits seamlessly right back into the mix.
He was an important spoke on the wheel to our first cup run several years ago! _________________ 16 and counting.... |

Yep. Really pleased about this move.
Rob's also a really nice guy. My son played pee-wee hockey on the same team as his son a couple of years ago. Nice family. |

Happy to have Steeger on that 3rd line.
So when Gabs hopefully returns for the playoffs.
Lucic - Kopitar - Gaborik
Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
King - Lecavalier - Versteeg
Clifford - Shore - Lewis
Suddenly the Bottom 6 doesn't suck as much. Marty has done a nice job fitting into the role Voynov had, especially with Scuds next to him for some anchoring. Something still feels lacking though with the D, can't put my finger on it. 3rd pairing still being poor probably has a lot to do with it.
Muzzin - DD
Martinez - Scuds
McNabb - Schenn (No righthander back here either) |

We also picked up Darryl's boy Brett from the Wild today.

We were in the rumor mill for righty but still has upside Dman Justin Schultz, who went to Pitts for a decent price, and Teddy Purcell in a combo deal from the Oilers. The D is not as solid as it was in the Mitchell/Voynov days but I could still see us going to battle with these 9. _________________ http://media.giphy.com/media/zNyBPu5hEFpu/giphy.gif
