Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis Hospitalized, Show Canceled

Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was hospitalized Saturday, prompting the rock band to cancel a show in Southern California.

The group was due to perform as the headlining act at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine. A rep for the Los Angeles radio station told Billboard Kiedis, 53, was taken from the venue in an ambulance after suffering from extreme stomach pain. The band has not disclosed his ailment.

Bassist Flea announced onstage at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre that the band's show was canceled and that Kiedis had been taken to the hospital.

"Anthony is on his way to the hospital right now and we're unable to play this evening," Flea said, as seen in a fan's Instagram video. "We are devastated about it. We're really sad."

"We love you so much," he added. "We live to rock, we live to f--king dig deep into the depths of our hearts and rock. But unfortunately there's a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it."
