I could have seen Russell coming back home to play with two monsters downlow in Randle and Okafor.... He is an alpha male and would want to be the star guard. I just don't see him wanting to play off ball with Russell on the team playing the point.
Just felt like we are the verge of landing a few LA kids mainly Westbrook(Lawson and Conley no LA ties)

2016:
Brandon Jennings
Demar Derozan
Mike Conley

2017:
Ty Lawson
Jrue Holiday
Russell Westbrook

I don't think the Lakers, in 2015, are going to draft thinking about who MAY come to them in 2017, since there's no guarantee Russ comes here or whether he's even healthy by then.

Sure. But 2 NBA seasons is an eternity. What if Russ wins a ring in 2016? What if he blows his knee?

I'd guess the Lakers are more interested in putting together a team that can attract Durant next summer. Their logic is probably that there are a good number of free agent bigs they can chase this year (Aldridge, Love, Jordan would all be good pick ups). Then they can target Durant or possibly Butler next sesaon. If that doesn't work out they can look further into the future. But I don't think they have an eye on tanking the next couple seasons. They want to put together a team that can be competitive as soon as possible.

which is why I mentioned all star la kid Jrue Holiday...

C
Okafor, Black/Upshaw
PF
Randle, Kelly/Davis
SF
Whoever, Brown/Young
SG
Derozan, Brown/RJ Hunter
PG
Westbrook, Clarkson

Would have gave Okafor and randle two years to grow. Man

Durant would have liked to play next to a great center. Idk we will see

Put it this way, based on what I've heard .... if the Lakers plan accordingly and have the cap space, Westbrook will be back in LA.

One outside possibility of getting Westbrook early to LA during his last year in OKC is if he makes it known to Presti that he is as good as gone. Possibly trading an asset like Clarkson or whomever on the roster at that time might be doable.

What exactly is the point lamenting over Okafor? None.

You're only young for so long in the NBA. Do you realize that if we sign him in the summer of 2017, that Westbrook would turn 30 in 2018 after finishing his first season with us? With his style of play and lack of shooting touch to rely on as he gets older, he doesn't have many prime years left. I was never on the Westbrook bandwagon.

Prefer getting Conley and Durant next year.

Well either D'Angelo doesn't pan out and we grab Westbrook 2 years from now or we find out we don't need him.

Westy is signed for two more season and he'll play those campaigns out to see what he can do with Durant. They're still a very high potential team, with a flawed PF-C situation. No sense in hand-wringing; there's time.
