Man, this sucks. Typical offseason of the Jim Buss era. I'm also beginning to believe that Jared Dudley was right when he said that no one wants to play with Kobe.

I don't think it's so much that people specifically don't want to play with him. I think it's more, no one particularly WANTS to play with him, so there has to be a reason beyond that to come here.

I would like to see the whole Buss family go home and clip coupons. Turn the whole dam operation over to Jerry West to rebrand it basketball chops not the Hollywood social media and T&A stuff they do now.

Go young - they'll need two years and see if you can make a play for D Cousins as his current contract expires. Take two years to add best available talent focus on SF all star and an athletic disrupter of point guards.

Let's see what Randle and Russell can really do.... we just don't know.

I'm not worried; things always work out for the Lakers. Let's just roll with Black, Davis, and Upshaw and see how plays out.

All we need is some rim protection and rebounding from our bigs; we have enough scoring. LaMarcus can't play center anyway and we already have a good pf in Randle.

If we can't get any of those 3 than don't spend no money and tank again. We could roll the dice and hope we get a top 3 pick

It was hard enough for Lakers to tank last season and almost missed out. Lets all go and endure the same again...

Not really. Anyone expecting a jump to light speed - filling a lineup with super premium talents only - was probably overreaching.

I do not think the lakers will be bottom 3 in any way. Russell/randle and Kobe will be playing, if this team wins less than 30 i would be surprised big time. I was just wondering about the situation....

Randle hasn't even gotten through a collegiate season healthy, now he will be depended upon. Russell is a year away and Kobe may be delusional about being able to carry the Lakers yet again. Will he allow the young guys to create or will he pull rank on them?

Maybe last year's injury was a fluke, but nonetheless Kobe has suffered three straight season ending injuries trying to carry a team that is getting less experienced every year.

30 wins would shock me. We were on pace for 23 with Kobe last year.

I blame the FO. No plan.

This is the second year in a row of striking out.

Well, clearly they had a plan. Some folks mentioned what I think makes a lot of sense.

We really have nothing to offer a FA right now. All we have is potential. No one knows if Randle is going to be injury prone, if Clarkson is the real deal or if Russell is as good as advertised. Kobe's old and done .... So ..... What makes us any different than Minny?

If we do indeed strike out, this is the year to show promise. To show teams we have legit pieces and need a couple pieces to push to the next level.

I knew the next two years were a wash when we signed Kobe to that absurd contract. If nothing else it has helped us tank and get lottery talent for the future. We just better hope Russell and Randle pan out

We still have the trading deadline this year!

Let's get our hopes up and then have have the Lakers FO deny that they tried to do anything after we fail to get anything done.

I guess in the end, you are right. We had a plan.

The FO always had a plan the last few years.

I just wish they would create a plan so they can implement it.

this is insane you guys want to put this on a player.....who has five championships playing with other players. He did not give himself that contract. Yes maybe he should not be in those meetings and management needs to tell kobe exactly where he fits in the organization now... he is no longer option 1. its their fault they have not had that discussion with him. No way...its to easy for everyone to blame kobe and not really look at where the problem is.

I really believe the Lakers need to offer Enes Kanter the MAX deal. The dude is a straight beast on offense and see if we could get Biyombo (for defense).

I doubt OKC can match a max offer given that they already have alot of money invested in Kevin Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka and Frontcourt was pretty formidable before Enes got there.

Please, if you are reading this Mitch DO IT!!

he is ONLY 22 years.

The thing is, plans take time to see themselves out. Rome wasn't built in a day. And all plans involve some element of luck as well. It's just about making your own luck. For instance, that they put protection on the pick traded gave us, with some luck, a shot at a top lottery pick which we got.

On the flip side, the plan was to have cap space available to sign FAs, looks like that one may not pan out the way we had hoped. But a good plan has alternates, and ours are the young guys.

If they pan out as we all expect them to, then we'll have some solid pieces and two max FA slots next season when Kobe is off the books which might be a cherry on top for free agents as well.

As already mentioned, this Laker team has a lot of young players that need to establish themselves. 30 year old LMA wants to win. I don't think he will win in SA. This time I really think they are done. Too old. This NBA has gotten way too fast and a guards league. We don't know what we have yet. By next year we will, and if this young core proves themselves, then we may be a piece or two away from contention. We need to be patient. this has nothing to do with Jim Buss or KB24. Although KB24 may not help, still claiming he is the #1 option. Had LMA come, you have to make him the focal point of the offense.

The mood in this thread is sad.
Technically, we did lock down a starting big man this offseason.
Robert Sacre started plenty for us last year.
