Dallas Mavericks Biggest Threat to Land LaMarcus Aldridge
by Ryan Ratty 13h ago

LaMarcus Aldridge will be one of the best free agents this summer. The Dallas Mavericks will be active in their search for a superstar and they have been linked to Aldridge.

In just a few days, Dirk Nowitzki will be 37 years old and he’ll be only a few years away from retirement. With that said, the Dallas Mavericks will be extremely active this offseason at making improvements to their roster. With Mark Cuban as their owner, the Mavericks will be one of a few teams that look into the possibilities of a signing an elite free agent in the fall

With Lakers, Knicks on prowl for stars, expect free agent fireworks

A the NBA's free agent negotiating period begins, it will not be some wasted transition period in which players and teams twiddle their thumbs and patiently bide their time before the 2016 summer of Kevin Durant and the ballooning salary cap.

This offseason will test whether players still view the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks as destination teams or disaster situations still too intimidating to rescue. It will challenge whether Dwyane Wade is willing to sacrifice his status as a supposed Heat "lifer" and leave in spite - bitterness bred by going unrewarded for past concessions. It will be the Pop quiz to determine if the Spurs can pull a miracle and land a possible big man successor to pair with Kawhi Leonard and extend their dynastic run beyond the close of Tim Duncan's career. And it could possibly set the stage for another labor dispute in 2017 if owners once again lose control of common sense, severely overpay on questionable contracts and then whine about a ridiculous salary structure.

Los Angeles Lakers Must Turn Free-Agent Focus to Filling Obvious Hole at Center

The official start of NBA free agency has arrived, and the Los Angeles Lakers are hard at work looking to plug a gaping frontcourt hole.

Time is somewhat relative, as 12:01 a.m. ET Wednesday also means 9:01 p.m. Tuesday on the West Coast.

Per Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, the Lakers front office got a quick jump on the process:

The Lakers plan to meet with Portland center LaMarcus Aldridge once free agency starts on Tuesday night, according to a league source familiar with the team’s itinerary. The Lakers will then follow that up with a meeting on Wednesday with Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, the league source said.

Lakers kick off free agency with two hour meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge
July 1, 2015 Updated 12:14 a.m

The organization that likes to maintain a competitive advantage by playing things close the vest had nothing to hide at 9:01 p.m. PT on Tuesday.

With teams able to negotiate with free agents as of late Tuesday, the Lakers are in full sales mode on LaMarcus Aldridge. Their meeting with the Portland Trail Blazers' power forward lasted about two hours.

The Lakers contingent consisted of a host of team executives, led by General Manager Mitch Kupchak, as well as coach Byron Scott and Kobe Bryant. Bryant, who sat in on the Lakers meeting with Dwight Howard in 2013, but missed their session with Carmelo Anthony last summer, was "very good" in the meeting, according to one person who was in the room.

Lakers and this Sacre love, i do NOT get it. Anyways, my dream would be Lakers landing LMA and Robin Lopez!!!! Jordan wants a bigger role, with LMA on the team its like BG all over for him. I think he goes to Dallas!!!!! They can have him and we take LMA. Lopez is a good center and plays very well along side LMA.

Lakers Rumors: LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love, Jimmy Butler On L.A.'s Radar In 2015 Free Agency

By Anthony Riccobono 

The NBA’s free agency period officially began at 12 a.m. ET on Wednesday morning, and the Los Angeles Lakers figure to be among the most active teams this summer. L.A. has less than $40 million committed to salaries for the 2015-2016 season, giving them plenty of money to sign multiple impact players.

Kobe Bryant is owed $25 million next year, but only three other players on the team are scheduled to make more than the league minimum. Coming off their worst season in franchise history, the Lakers are expected to utilize their salary cap space, looking to add some of the best free agents on the market.

Lakers Rumors: Hottest Trade and Free-Agent Buzz on Dwyane Wade and More

By Mike Chiari , Featured Columnist
Jul 1, 2015

Joe Skipper/Associated Press

After selecting guard D'Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft, the Los Angeles Lakers are ready to usher in a new era through trades and free agency.

L.A. has some money to spend, and its roster is also a blank slate of sorts, with only veteran Kobe Bryant, young forward Julius Randle and Russell looking like sure things to receive significant playing time. A lot of work needs to be done in order for the Lakers to become competitive in the Western Conference again, but they have an opportunity to improve rapidly.

LA Lakers Rumors: Team May Be Looking To Trade Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, And Others For Big Names

LA Lakers Rumors Julius Randle trade DeMarcus Cousins

The LA Lakers are really hoping to be big-time players in the 2015 NBA free agency season, but they may end up doing it more with trades than signings. Right now, there are rumors floating around that they would be willing to part with their last two first round draft picks in order to land someone like DeMarcus Cousins from the Sacramento Kings.

Right now, the Lakers appear to be going after LaMarcus Aldridge and a couple other players in free agency, but trade options may be more attractive.
