Something tells me Scott's practices have a lot to do with that too. The guy shouldn't be falling down as often as he does but his legs just look gone.

You may be right. Seems like he does a good job of getting free underneath and can't do anything with it except hope to get fouled or pass it.

Roy Hibbert Accidentally Punching Lou Williams in the Face Perfectly Sums Up the 2016 Lakers

Quote:
If that doesn't totally sum up the Lakers, I don't know what does. On the surface they seem like they should be fun. They have some good young players. They have the end-of-an-era superstar heading off into the sunset. But then, instead of being fun, someone punches you in the face.

Yep, he'll get an Ed Davis type contract just because remember teams get fined if they don't spend a certain amount.

Does Roy Hibbert Have A Future With Lakers?

Quote:
Big Roy has conclusively shown that he doesn’t have the mobility necessary to defend the pick-and-roll or switch onto perimeter players, something that is becoming a must in the NBA. Making matters worse, when adjusted for minutes played, his points, rebounds, and blocks are all at career-low levels, and opposing teams are taking advantage of him.

As a backup C for 5M maybe. But I doubt he'll be back next season.

There are ways around the minimum payroll requirements. Of course it's the 76ers that were exploiting it.

Surround Roy with 4 first and second year players and the guy thinks he is back at 22. 12 and 9 with 3 blocks and 2 steals, game ball to Roy. He is tight with these young guys, I think he played balls out to get this win for them.

The best game he's played all season. Was a decent rim protector and clearly put his mark on the game.

Unfortunately, it came 65 games too late. Seems like he needs motivation to play like this every night. Byron ain't that guy.

I REALLY want us to keep Roy, as a veteran off the bench. 10-15 minutes off the bench, he gives you good defense and stretches the floor for you. He's also a solid presence in the locker room. He's been through worse (bleep) before in Indy when Lance was (bleep) up the chemistry. He's a great influence on the young guys.

Ex-Laker Roy Hibbert wouldn't return to play with LeBron
Quote:

Former Los Angeles Lakers center Roy Hibbert said Monday he has no interest in returning to the Lakers to join forces with LeBron James. When TMZ Sports asked him about going back to the franchise, Hibbert said, "I'm good on it right now."

In fact, the 31-year-old veteran didn't express interest in playing for any NBA team, saying, "It's just time to move on." Hibbert spent nine seasons in the NBA, including seven with the Indiana Pacers, one with the Lakers and one split between the Charlotte Hornets and Denver Nuggets. Hibbert also struggled during his time with the Lakers, as he averaged 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest...

I know it is not the best case scenario, but if we add one piece this offseason, but fail to get a second significant player, the FO will likely be looking for a player or two to be salary holds on one year deals to maximize the next offseason.....and Hibbert may not be the worst guy to fill that role. I think he could be decent with limited minutes off the bench. He will not be a problem in the locker room.

This scenario is better than panicking and giving a mid level player near max money for 4 years.

after this thread was brought back to life....was reading through thoughts on Roy back then and came across this one in February 2016....a few months later, we panicked and gave large sums of money to mid level players for 4 years.....

Dunno. Sacre was a pretty decent bench cheerleader.

I'll never forget that one playoff series when he was still at Indiana, he had like multiple 0/0/0 games or something like that, it was unreal how bad he became.
