Above average? I'll gladly take NBA average at their positions right now. |
Klay thompson was not a defensive player his rookie season but started to pick it up after 1st yr
Thats my expectations from clarkson as well. |
But it wasn't above average. The average NBA defender would be a great accomplishment for them this year. |
R u arguing just for the sake or arguing and kill time?

I think Tony Parker is one example of an all star point guard who isn't known for his defense but has never been criticized For being a defensive liability.
I think a lot of that has to do with having good defensive schemes. Defense is as much coaching as it is individual talent. |

Worth noting that even in a poor year, hibbert ranked 2nd in fg% allowed on shots inside ten feet (minimum seven attempts), and fourth inside of six feet (minimum four attempts). |

We're going to be better than expected defensively because we are extremely long.
Clarkson 6'8 wingspan
Russell 6'10 wingspan
Kobe 7' wingspan (I think)
Randle 7' wingspan (quick and strong can be very good defensively)
Hibbert ? Idk but he's huge |

We haven't had a defensive anchor in La in a very long time (Howard doesn't count) |

I think that Randle could be a decent defender too if he really pushed himself and gave a little more attention to that part of his game. |

Now if we can just get a perimeter stopper, the defense will actually be good. Russell, Bryant, AB and Bass will all be decent. Hopefully Randle and Clarkson will surprise. The guy that pulls it all together is that one perimeter defender that slows down the opposition's top threat. |

What is Troy Hibbert doing playing Call of Duty when he should be working on his jumpshot in the gym. |

Hold on a second. Hawks' coach never played (I think?). He is a GREAT coach.
I don't see his logic. And what about my favourite Rick Carlisle (I think? haha)?
I will take them over Scott anyday |

Yes. I've mentioned that a few times. People are in love with the blocks stat but Deandre was decidedly average rim defense at 48% (Pau is only marginally worse). There's a disconnect between how the Clippers perform defensively as a unit and what the perception of them as individual defenders are.
Contrast that to Indiana. They lost George. Stephenson was gone. They still were 7th int he league in defensive rating despite Hibbert's "down" year.
There's impact and then there's IMPACT. |

I think what Roy really meant was, "I'm so happy to be playing for the LA Lakers that I want Coach Scott to be as ecstatic as I am." |

Simple analysis:
In 2012 and 2013, Hibbert was a defensive STUD. For whatever reason, something went awry last season. I don’t see how this isn’t tied to Paul George being injured, or no longer having Lance Stephenson. In fact, this makes me feel even better about getting Hibbert. The advanced stats shows he is a certifiably top 5 level-overall defender not only amongst centers, but the NBA. |
He didn't play a lot last season |
Nope only 25 mpg. If we can get him to play between 32-35 mpg I think he will make the all-star team. |
That's an absurd statement. The years that Hibbert did make the All-Star team, he would not have made it if he played in the West.
To expect that he'll now elevate his game to a level that he'll be able to make the All-Star team in a conference with Anthony Davis, Marc Gasol, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan...that's just ridiculous. |
No it isn't, all it would take is for all Laker fans to vote him in. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

I think having a well defined role where he only cares/plays on the defensive end will help.
offense for him should be same as DJ, putbacks, dunks and layups. thats it.
with kobe, randle, clarkson and Russell as playmakers he can still average 12-14points |

All I know is that his defensive rating has been as good as Marc Gasol's if not better during his career. I'm excited about Hibbert other than Russell he was a major get for us. |

Unlike DJ you can actually pass hibbert the ball and ask him to shoot a mid range jumper _________________ Kobe |
