Hibbert has been a top 5 defensive big the past few years. His presence alone should make the Lakers have at least a top 15 defense if not better. |

Arguably in 2012-13, 2013-14, he was top 7 defender PERIOD in the NBA. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Bynum was the last. And as much as we bash Kwame, I always thought his positional defense and lateral speed in the post were excellent. He pretty much sucked in every other facet of basketball. |

The only thing I want from Hibbert on the offensive end is for him to be a reliable mid range shooter. As in you can't leave him open. It will open up the driving lanes for the rest of our guys. |

All i want from hibbert on offense is similar to DJ: putbacks, dunks and layups
An occaional mid range is fine too to feed his ego |

Defenses will cheat off of RH too much and make it tougher for the other four Lakers to get open shots if he isn't somewhat of a threat to score. |

True, like how no one had to guard Rodman. I am just a little worried listening to him that he's not planning on playing any offense at all. Hopefully I'm misreading him. He can score the ball. |

He's a fine midrange shooter. Good enough that teams can't just leave him alone, at least. |

Roy Hibbert vs. Roy Hibbert
Quote: | the Lakers got him for essentially nothing. Reporters lob question after question about what went wrong in Indiana for the two-time All-Star and 2013-14 runner-up for NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
The Pacers gave Hibbert away in a salary dump for just a second-round draft pick, marking one of the steepest downturns for a player in recent memory.

"I can't let one play affect me the next two or three times down the court. I have had that happen before."
I think if anyone can help him how to forget about a bad play its kobe.
I think it was the raptor game in 2012, where d12 said that he was amazed kobe missed so many shots and kept taking them till Kobe became on fire in the 4th. _________________ Starters Bench

Sorry, but this guy looks far too mentally fragile to prosper in LA long term, especially if we keep him when we start to return to playoff contention. It'll be interesting how all this plays out. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

It'll be great for him not to have to worry about being a major contributor on offense. This team sounds like the perfect fit for him. _________________

just having Hibbert doesn't make us a top tier defense. He can't do everything. We still need perimeter defense.
That said, we had a terrible defense and Hibbert joining the team will dramatically help us. |

Hibbert could be a difference changer. With his height and size, he can really protect the rim and alter penetration |

Roy Hibbert will have a bounce back season in LA.
However ALL the other guys are going to have to commit more effort and focus on the defensive end of the court to help RH out.
He can't do it alone, its going to have to be a team effort. |

Hopefully Hibbert gains the confidence to be our outspoken leader on defense. I knows he's not the KG type who will yell at everyone and hold everybody accountable, but at least he can take charge and try to help everyone be in position and put in the effort. He knows it's his strong suit and his focus, maybe some of his therapy and brain exercises can help him get that confidence.
I'm really pulling for Big Roy and I think he'll prove to be a real steal for years to come. I love that he's trying to adapt to the new nba by losing weight and working on his foot speed. I just wish he was able to play more minutes per game. Maybe the lower weight can help with that as well. |

it was obvious what went wrong... he got too unproductive for his contract. Hence, Indy made the salary dump. Lakers took a risk hoping they get value for him. Losing only a 2nd rounder to acquire Hibbert was a way to mitigate that risk. _________________ "Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money & position in society are the cups.
