|
|
Quote: | DeAndre Jordan signed a four-year, $80 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend, ditching a playoff team for one that’s basically turning over its entire roster. That may seem like a strange decision, but Jordan will have two things going for him in Dallas—a more prominent role in the offense, and a healthy distance from Chris Paul.
According to ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz, Jordan’s relationship with Paul soured considerably last year, with Jordan becoming a convenient scapegoat for the rest of the team whenever things went poorly. Paul seems to have been feeling particularly petty:
Jordan and Chris Paul had gotten into it more than once, which led Jordan to start seriously contemplating what it might be like to play elsewhere in 2015-16.
He was tired of Paul’s constant barking and petty gestures, like distributing high-fives to the three other guys on the floor following a timeout but somehow freezing out Jordan.
Arnovitz’s story, which is definitely worth a read, also has details about the Clippers’ underwhelming pitch meeting with Jordan, a meeting that Paul apparently didn’t bother to attend.
Chris Paul has always been surly as hell, but deliberately antagonizing the only guy on your team who is capable of grabbing 20 rebounds and protecting the rim seems like a bad idea. Jordan may not be a superstar or even worthy of a max contract, but he’s a hell of a lot better than whatever scrap-heap lug the Clippers will end up replacing him with.
There’s a good chance that one day—after a diminished Chris Paul has spent the last few years of his career whining at referees and cursing out teammates while never winning anything of real consequence—the main thing that people will remember about CP3 is that he was kind of a prick.
That may seem like a strange decision, but Jordan will have two things going for him in Dallas—a more prominent role in the offense...
So they’re going to let him throw the inbounds pass?

Did Deandre Jordan rub the top of Paul's head once? |

Hold the phone...are you telling me that a pass first player doesn't always make good teammate? _________________ Eighth grade key phrases are crucial tools for this type of subterfuge: "team player", "make teammates better", "ballhog", "selfish", "court vision": all dripping with sanctimony and defamation. |

Chris Paul -- leader of men.
He barks at teammates and refs 24/7, then goes all doe-eyed and humble before the media.
His embarrassing flops are the stuff of YouTube legends.
He's now past 30 and has never gotten a team past the second round.
He has choked often at critical junctures.
He is one of the reasons the Clippers are universally disliked around the league -- petty, whiny, dirty -- or as the Clippers like to gloss it "competitive."
If driving D'Andre Jordan off by being a tool leads to another year of playoff futility, the Clippers window will close while he goes into physical decline. He's got an old man's grumpiness without an old man's maturity. |

Let's not forget, CP3 made Deandre into who he is offensively. Good luck scoring with ease on the Mavs. Cp3 can make any big man look great (see: Tyson, David West) |

lol. After a playoff game they asked CP3 if he thinks the NBA should outlaw hack a shaq. He had a disgusted look on his face, sharply says "NO", and that you gotta make your free throws. |

I had the Clippers winning the West next season. If they don't get a big to take Jordan's place winning the loaded West will be more than difficult.
More and more I give the Spurs owner and FO props. They're going to be there AGAIN next season. The acquisition of Aldridge keeps the very relevant. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I think this could be the biggest failure of CP3's career. This is something he had a lot of control over and he knew that DJ could leave in the summer. I'm sure it must be frustrating being a teammate of DJ's but why would you chase away a guy that could do so much to help you win a ring? That's stupid, and it could close the door on any chance that Paul has to win a ring. |

I'm happy to put Rondo and Cousins together. Preferably now with Karl. It's like detonating C4 in a room filled with TNT and gunpowder. |
Agree. Three prima donna's in the same gym. LINK _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

And both players will never reach their potential if they had stayed together....DJ won't get those easy buckets because he doesn't have CP3 there any longer, and CP3 won't have a big man in the prime of his career. |

I don't blame Chris Paul, playing next to a guy like DJ can be frustrating to the point where you'd rather not deal with his overrated a** DJ can be replaced with any other young big who can rebound and block shots and may be possibly hit his free throws. GM Rivers should get to work _________________ My Dream Starting 5 next Season

BTW, this season where the Clippers finally got the monkey off their back by beating the Spurs only to blown a WCF Finals appearance with a meltdown in game 6 in the 2nd round. Then DJ leaves ASAP in free agency....looks like Clipper fans are back to sniffing glue cuz they ain't sniffing the WCF or make any deep playoff runs with their current roster. |

Not with their current salary situation. Maybe in the 2016-2017 season when the salary cap jumps. |

Paul is a piece of junk. Always was, always will be. Glad Jordan decided to leave. Take a big man like this for granted. Not so easy to replace, methinks. Clips about to slide significantly down the rung. _________________ Smrek 2, Nevitt 1, Barkley 0 |

I don't know man, DJ is flushing anything near the basket. I think I could throw it up there and he would crush it down convincingly.
CP3's carping and flopping is tired. His choke job in OKC two years ago was legendary also and I am not even mentioning him tightening up when Houston punked them this year. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

This says more about DJ then Paul. To me, DJ is not that heady a player, and Paul tried to get him to think more. I think Paul has flaws but this reminds me of Kobe with Dwight.
DJ - what offense does he want to expand? Guy is limited even more than Dwight. I am glad he went to Dallas and he is a big loss defensively and in energy. |
