Schweinsteiger isn't actually confirmed yet, but it looks real. The most intriguing team so far is Bournemouth. You can't fault them for lack of ambition. The single most surprising move, other than Cech, is Falcao. I didn't see him coming back to England. He might do well in the Chelsea system.

From what I saw of him last year, he didn't look like he had the pace from his Atleti/Monaco days nor was he lethal in the box. He did improve during his final games for United linking up with the midfield and holding the line, but I don't think the Chelsea move will change anything for him (he'll be warming the bench for Costa). But I liked his professionalism last year - didn't complain when LVG sat him down, so I'll cheer for him when he plays (but not when he faces United, of course). Do you have a team you follow?

Good luck with negotiating across from Uncle Pérez; I believe United were linked with him, but have now moved their sights on Ramos (which I think is a load of bull). Otamendi, Schneiderlin, Lacazette, and keeping De Gea would be a muppetastic summer for us.

I pay more attention to MLS than I used to. The quality has improved enormously. If MLS ever goes to a standard schedule, and if it starts to move away from the single-entity model, I might get more interested. As is, MLS has sort of a rigged feel to me. Let's see how many international superstars we can get to New York and LA, so they can play teams of ordinary players from the less important markets. At least Kaka wound up in Orlando.

Back on the original topic, the shocker of the day is Delph blowing off Man City. There must be more to this story than meets the eye. You don't put an eight million pound walk clause in your contract if you are really all that devoted to Aston Villa. For that matter, who is all that devoted to Aston Villa, period? This story isn't over.

Now, if we could just make the Raheem Sterling story go away . . . .

Apart from the occasional LA Galaxy game replay on TWC, I don't really follow our domestic league. Despite the progress made in the past several years, you can't really compare a highly competitive European league to MLS. The technical ability of the players and the tactics managers employ just aren't up to par.

I applaud Delph's decision to stay as captain of AVFC, rather than be a highly paid squad player that rarely gets regular playing time. MCFC has a dearth of homegrown talent on their squad, and this was probably one of the reasons they were after Delph in the first place. With Milner off to Liverpool, MCFC turned to Delph to bolster their domestic talent.

Don't know what's going on with Raheem, really...but with Delph off the table I can see MCFC really go after him hard.

They also show the MLS games on UniMas, which is the free to air Spanish channel...if you press the SAP button you get english commentary and I believe they show a random MLS game every Friday night.

Good thread!

Rumors I've been reading here and there:

Chelsea in talks with Pedro (Barca).Kind of unbelievable, why would they want him unless Maurinio is interested in dressing room gossip at Barca.

Raheem Sterling on the verge to join City for 50 mil. Not worth the money.

Gary Medel (Chile, Inter)in talks with Liverpool. Mario Balotelli will probably leave on loan to Fiorentina.

United is trying to get Nico Gaitan (Argenina, Benfica Lisbon). Rafael De Silva (United) is interested in a move to Benfica. Louis Van Gaal is willing to pay 40 mil for Jack Wilshire (They'll never get him IMO). Besides, United has all these midfielders, what about a world class scorer for a change?

If Sterling really moves for 50M pounds, then I would have to score Liverpool as the unexpected winner in that mess. Man City does need to get younger, but come on.

1. I know, right? Hard to believe nobody saw fit to make one in the first place.
2. This same rumor is bandied about EVERY F***ING TRANSFER WINDOW! ENOUGH! No more Gaitan, Sneijder, and Cavani BS pls...
3. Highly questionable. We have Di Maria & Mata and now Memphis; I think we're messing with LeArse.

I don't buy what LVG says. You guys need another striker. I don't know much about Depay, but I'll assume that Man U knows what it is doing. Still, isn't your third striker some kid? He may be talented, but it's a long fixture list to have so little depth.

I'm other news, it looks like Pogba to Man City may really happen. I'm seeing talk about Scheinderlin to Spurs. Meanwhile, Real is holding onto Bale despite a huge offer from Man U, which surprises me a little. Stoke picked up Glen Johnson, which strikes me as a solid move. I don't know much about the guy that Newcastle splashed some cash for. They seem to be getting good reviews on the move, though it may have something to do with the fact that they finally spent some money.

Yep. Worse comes to worse we'll land Berahino or Benteke, but those aren't really the type of signings Woody is known to do. Bayern aren't selling us Muller, Benzema's old news, and Levy will try and hold on to Kane. Will be plenty happy with Lacazette and he'll slot in with Rooney and James Wilson as our three strikers.

MCFC aren't getting Pogba, he wants Barcelona and Laporta is willing to make that a reality. We will sign Schneiderlin next week - no question about it. Our midfield next season will be crazy stacked - Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Carrick, Ander Herrera - I'm stoked. We don't reallly need Bale atm, he's hated at Madrid and the situation is a ticking time bomb.

£49M, god that's absurd; well done, Liverpool.

Imagine that - Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, Raheem Sterling and Samir Nasri in the same dressing room.

Indeed, well done Liverpool. 49m for the most overrated player in the league is very good business.

Providing they don't waste that money on (bleep) like they usually do, Liverpool have done well here.

You will find over here in England, that we have a huge tendency to over-rate our own players, so when an English player gets sold to another English club, it's always for ore money than that player should actually be worth.

49m for a trouble-making 20 year old who has had 1 good season

Sterling going for 49 mil is mind boggling. City is paying for potential only. The kid is 20 years old FFS. What has he done so far?
