Yep, I said it! And I'm. Not being prisoner of the moment either. When you look at certain variables, they have the biggest 2 way upside!
They have size: they are both 6'5
They are interchangeable: they can both play the 1 or the 2.
They can both shoot: obviously not as well as the splash brothers but good enough to keep the defense honest.
They are athletic: people complain about what they perceive as lack of athleticism on Russells part. It's not. Its control. He can and will explode when he has to. Clarkson is an athletic freak!
I have been drooling at the thought of these 2 players growing together ever since we drafted Russell and it is gonna be a joy watching them shoot up the charts past Wall/Beal and Curry/ Thompson. They can shoot as well as the splash brothers and may not be as athletic as Wall/Beal but hen you take into account all of the variables, they will end up the best! |

You tell me if 3 years ago you saw Curry and Klay as the best back court in the League with Steph winning the league MVP? Nope! So it's not an overreaction. It's an observation that I believe will become a fact. |

As of now, they're the two most talented pair of perimeter players outside of Wiggins/LaVine. They will be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come. |

Russell wins ROY
Hibbert plays like runner-up DOPY
Clarkson continues to play like he did yesterday all year
Randle is a double double guy
Durant may give the Lakers a shot next year. _________________ Because we're better than you! |

Backcourt consists of guards. Small Forwards are part of the Front Court. |

That being said Lavine is awesome. It looks like his range has really improved. He's a lot like Clarkson in certain ways.
Minnesota is going to be a lot to handle. Plus they'll get a high pick this off season. They have quite a few legitimate pieces. _________________ How can I get a copy of a Laker game played on Sunday, March 11, 2001 Sonics/Lakers? If you know PM me please

You say that like the Lakers would let him go somewhere.
I'm not sure why people think a restricted free agent is easily attainable by other teams.
As long as he continues to improve Clarkson isn't going anywhere. |

I don't See Lavine as being special. When it's all said and done, he will be in the Nick Young, JR. Smith, Jamal Crawford type of hired gun. Nothing special. |

here's the problem with your thread. You never said a word about those two playing defense
Curry is now an average defender(better than he use to be).
Klay is an above average to very good defender)
both combined offense = great
so curry/klay defense + offense = very very good backcout.
Russell/Clarkson = No defense at all right now
Russell/Clarkson in 3 years = great offense
if their defense doesnt get a LOT better. they will never be on par with Curry/Klay or Wall/beal.
since whatever they do on offense will be negated by their lack of defense. that has to change. and if it doesnt change in the next few years. one of them will be on another team so we can get a better defensive player that can also score the ball. |

It is an overreaction because you have not seen Russell play for one whole season.
You have not seen Clarkson play for a whole season.
It is an overreaction because you are basing it on their size? and a 1/2 season with Clarkson starting.
their are 32 other teams out there with talented players.
Let's see what happens after this season before making such statements. |

And if they go 2-26 from the field next game, are they the worst guard pairing ever ? Ah grasshopper, there is much to be revealed. Restrain yourself from over-eagerness. Give them three Summer games before proclaiming them the GOAT. |

The thread said 3 YEARS FROM NOW! Not today. I remember Jerry west saying after trading for Kobe that in a few years this kid is gonna be the bests player in the league. He said that during his first season when he wasn't even playing that many minutes! |

I think they'll be a top 4/5 back court at least in 3 years which isn't bad at all considering how young they'll still be. But as others have said defense is still an issue with both. Not to mention Klay and Steph haven't even hit their prime yet and will have in 3 years. |

Your crystal ball is showing.
Jerry West has earned respect for making decisions based on his personal, sharp talent assessments. You and I are not that man. |
