I wonder if there is a perfect word for a person who comes uninvited, negates every statement everyone else is making, spews negativity and in general ruins it for everyone...

Byron Scott says plan for Kobe Bryant is to play Friday. He did not practice today, just came in to do treatment & get shots up.

Shot too much last night for my liking, but, overall, played his best game of the year. It's sort of sad to see how taxing playing those extended minutes and high usage rate can be on him now.
I'd like to see him dial down the shot attempts at his current efficiency, but I'll take the rest of his game last night all day. Great game Kobe!
My favorite part? At the end, when they were fouling us intentionally, he allowed Clarkson to take that spotlight. Now that is the kind of thing you want to see your veteran leaders do for their young guys. Loved seeing that.
I get that you sprinkled in a few Kobe praises throughout your post, but "I want to see him shoot less" and "allow clarkson to take the spotlight down the stretch" sound like the same things you hear on repeat in the Kobe p&m thread.
Could you please keep those things in the p&m thread? Thanks.
Seriously. Do we need the same broken record we heard for 20 yrs here? I get the trolling is getting more and more creative with the thinly veiled variety now. I know Dave20 and ringfinger (etc) are highly dedicated in replaying that record but there are so many threads to whine about Kobe I dont see the point of doing that here.
I've been calling them out for doing this but they can't seem to help themselves. At least Dave20 doesn't try to disguise his Kobe hate like Ringfinger does.

I was in the Bay Area listening to KNBR yesterday and Tom Tolbert's show was on. He had a cohost, not sure who he was, but somehow Kareem's name came up and Tolbert said that anyone who does not have Kareem in their top 5 GOAT knows nothing about the game. They then went into an extended discussion of various players over the years that they were pulling out of their memories and discussed if they could be considered top 10. One name that didn't pull out was Kobe's, interesting. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

Conclusion, both Tolbert and the cohost know nothing of the game.
Just got my tickets for the 76ers. Going there to pay my respects to Mamba. Taking a Celtics fan with me who also respects the Mamba. Should be fun. (And Hibbert will lock down oak and DLO will have 20 assists to Kobe). _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
"I feel good enough that I could go out there and score 25 or something like that, but what the hell is that going to do for these guys? It's not going to do a damn thing."
Bryant later added, "I know what I can do. I can do a lot more. I think the most important thing right now is understand how collectively we play.
"If I go off on [scoring] tangents individually, this whole thing is going to collapse more than it is, because you're seeing signs of improvement throughout the course of the game, but I can't go off on my own. I have to make sure I continue to teach, continue to talk to these guys and try to pull them along."
Telling you now, if a coach like Pop was here he'd be putting players in positions to succeed and Kobe would look a helluva lot better. _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview

Agree. It wouldn't be earth shattering improvement, but games like this? I don't think so. He'd at least look average.
At some point, it would probably be a good idea for Kobe to say this is his last season. Then nights like this, he'd at least get the retirement tour applause and respect instead of getting clowned and disrespected.

Kobe would be perfect for a Ginobili-esque role. Manu's got a 24 PER while playing 21 mins a game at the tender age of 38. The limited minutes allow him to be hyper efficient and put some real effort on D.
That being said, it's simply not in his nature to turn of his alpha mode. I'm not sure if even Pop can work the magic to make him accept that role.

Got to respect it
I'm still waiting for him to actually go through with this.
I still believe kobe's got something left in the tank. The system, lack of any flow or rythm is dragging him down, like it's dragging down the team as a whole.
