See that running back put the moves on that linebacker? It was like a video game. See that two-handed dunk from inside the elbow? It was like a video game. See that home run clear the bleachers and land way across the street? It was like a video game.

And that makes sense. There’s something … visual about it. There’s something about it that says, above all else, I need to see that again.

Kobe's last game in Portland

Quote:
The Moda Center was nearly 30 percent full with Lakers fans draped in purple and gold Bryant jerseys, but the Blazers faithful were diligently vocal to drown out the away fans. Bryant received a mixture of cheers and boos in pregame introductions and then was loudly booed each time he touched the ball. However, when his first shot dropped with four minutes left in the first quarter the Lakers fans in the arena erupted with applause.

Jordan Brand is rumored to be releasing a pair of Lakers themed sneakers for Kobe Bryant in February

Quote:

Sneaker fans everywhere rejoiced when it was revealed that Kobe Bryant would be working with Tinker Hatfield — the man responsible for designing most, if not all, of Michael Jordan‘s sneakers — on his 11th and final signature shoe.

So now that rumors have surfaced that Jordan Brand may actually be releasing a Kobe Bryant pack come February, fans can’t contain their excitement.

Lakers reflect on Kobe's 'passionate' lecture after latest loss
Quote:
Two days after Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant delivered one of his patented fiery speeches in the locker room following another blowout loss, his teammates reflected on his message and what impact it had.

"It was a very heartfelt, passionate speech to us," Lakers rookie forward Larry Nance Jr. said after practice Monday, speaking of Bryant's impromptu lecture following the team's 121-103 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers last Saturday at Moda Center.

"I think everybody took away the same message -- 9-37 isn't all right. We've got to do what we can to change that and I think things started today."

Nike should absolutely not discontinue Kobe's sneaker line. (I was led to believe that the 11 would be his last shoe...but I see they are now saying that it will be that last shoe that Kobe will wear as an active player)

This is from two weeks ago after the Warriors game, but I haven't seen it posted:

Quote:
"You guys have got to go ahead and make history," Bryant told Curry.

"I got to chase you," Curry replied, a response that Bryant said he too would have used.

"Damn right," Bryant told Curry. "Absolutely. Come and get it."

You know its time when you look around the league and Kobe's former teammates are now coaches.....
And this is not even counting the coaches who Kobe used to play against.

I'd like to see someone make a mock statement for when Byron Scott get fired in the same format like Kobe/Kareem did their announcement.

It should be from basketball to Byron Scott, telling him he knows he gave it all he got, but he single handedly almost got an entire generation of Laker fans to quit being fans, and that he never wants to see Byron involved in basketball ever again.

That would make the rounds on Twitter the day he's fired like no other.

Kobe was pretty much the only bright spot tonight.

I think he's really played well the last few months. He isn't being a detriment to this team any longer. Not really taking many bad shots.

It's just unfortunate someone so great and legendary is going out like this.

I compare his retirement to someone like Calvin Johnson who is reportedly calling it a career in the NFL. Obviously his entire career wasn't wasted like Calvin's being in Detroit, but injuries obviously along with playing for such a bad team and what's become an inept franchise has taken it's toll.

There's no doubt in my mind Kobe could still play for a a title contender. He's probably not a starter anymore, but definitely a guy who can contribute. He can still create his own shot effectively. He has gotten much better at catching and shooting the ball as the season has gone on. Still shown an ability to be a play maker. I always thought I'd rather see Kobe finish his career as a Laker it would only be right, but seeing these last few years I really wish he would've left and gone somewhere else where he could at least be on a semblance of a basketball team. You don't deserve this Kobe. You're a legend, one of the all time great players and competitors. It's a shame.

Kobe should get his own statue and get both numbers retired. He at least deserves that.

Incredible performance. It has been an absolute honor to watch this man play. He wasn't gonna allow us to blow another big lead to this team. Amazing still how good this guy is and how clutch he is. We love you Kobe. Simply put the baddest man to ever put on a Lakers uniform. Gonna miss him. Gonna enjoy every last moment we have with him.

Your comment about his legs is so true. I watch the TDIKH games that TWC shows, and that's the most noticeable difference between then and now. He's still a brilliant player, but the legs just don't cooperate very often anymore. But tonight? Jesus.

@BenGolliver: Sam Mitchell said Kobe Bryant a "top 5, 6, 7 player" & added: "I hate him. If I don't ever see him again, it will be too soon. I hate him."

Lol what the hell. Explains why he was a jerk talking about him pre game too. The 81 point game scared him, Stu said Mitchell still gets flashbacks lmaooo I loved that

I hope he listens to his body so that he can finish the season and give us a couple more of these gems. Way to go, Mamba!
