Time To Give Some Props To Lakers Front Office
by Pablo Jacobo - lasportshub.com

After bombing in free agency for the third straight year, the Los Angeles Lakers bounced back and saved face with their preceding additions. They signed Lou Williams and Brandon Bass. They also traded for Roy Hibbert. Solid moves that will not hinder the progressions of the young Lakers. It took some creative maneuvering for the Lakers to pull off these deals so kudos to the front office

At first glance these additions don’t seem to scare anybody, but for what the Lakers are trying to accomplish, the signings are great. The front office wants to build a team for the future. Essentially two lottery picks in D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle are what LA is banking on for their rebuild.

props? even Greg Monroe didn't want any part of the Lakers... lol
Did not realize that Monroe was a top-flight center. He appears to be an older version of Okafor

I don't see how it does.

Those 4 players combined make $9M. Lawson makes $12M.

The Hibbert, Williams, and Bass signings put us right against the cap. Hibbert even waived his trade kicker so we could still fit him in our cap space, because the extra $2M+ would've blocked all of our other deals.

This does not make sense, unless there's some trade exception to the cap that I'm missing. Can anyone explain this?
As a non tax paying team, the Lakers could take back up to 150% in salaries in this scenario (which is around 13.5 million).

Lakers among teams interested in Nuggets' Ty Lawson
by Chris Mannix - si.com

Despite a second DUI arrest in the last six months, embattled Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson is generating interest on the trade market, NBA sources told SI.com. Houston, Detroit and the L.A. Lakers are among the teams that have expressed interest in Lawson recently, and there remains a strong possibility the Nuggets could unload Lawson before training camp.

Ehh, Lakers want him why? He will stunt the growth of our youths

D’Angelo Russell Signs Shoe Endorsement Deal With Nike
By Russell Valenzuela - lakersnation.com

When the Los Angeles Lakers selected D’Angelo Russell during the NBA Draft, many viewed the Ohio State point guard as some form of savior to a franchise that isn’t used to losing on a consistent basis.

In order to bank on Russell’s superstar potential, shoe company Nike went after the newest Laker. As a result, Russell will wear Nikes when he steps on the court.

He will join Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle as high profile Lakers to be under the Nike brand.

Lakers rookies are not the only ones struggling in Las Vegas summer league
by Eric Pincus - latimes.com

The Lakers' summer league squad (1-3) hasn't been especially impressive, despite high hopes for rookie guard D'Angelo Russell and second-year forward Julius Randle.

Heading into the team's final game on Friday, Russell has averaged just 9.5 points and 3.8 assists a game, while shooting 31.7% from the field and 7.7% from three-point range, along with 5.8 turnovers.

Randle, who missed almost his entire rookie season with a broken leg, has given the Lakers 11.7 points with 3.7 rebounds a night, shooting 39.3% from the field.

The Lakers selected Russell with the second overall pick in June's 2015 NBA draft. Randle is essentially a red-shirt rookie, selected with the seventh pick in 2014.

The duo isn't alone in struggling through the NBA's annual Las Vegas summer league.

jesus christ and there is all of a sudden another rule about the NBA salary cap, which is the strangest cap you will ever see, all these room exception, mid level exception and how this other (bleep) is called, i' m pretty good with how a NFL Cap works, but NBA wow...i have no clue really..why they don't make it much more easier

Lawson is a very under rated PG IMO. He would be a steal! Russell not playing well could contribute to Lakers picking up a starting pg at this point which is not a bad idea. Russell will be good in couple of year but he just does not look ready.

Yeah I can see the Lakers trading Russell and baggage for Lawson. I would not get on their case for doing it. Lawson is a verified top NBA pg.
