Quote:
The Denver Nuggets have reached agreement to trade guard Ty Lawson to the Houston Rockets, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Houston will send Kostas Papanikolaou, Pablo Prigioni, Joey Dorsey, Nick Johnson and a protected 2016 first-round draft pick to Denver, sources said. Along with Lawson, the Nuggets will send a 2017 second-round pick to Houston.

More reasons to root for Houston! Now they have a drunk driver to place alongside a flopper, a coward with 12391039128 kids, and a thug!

At first glance that's a horrible deal for Denver and a great deal for HOU.
Exactly what Houston needed. When I looked at their team, the one clear weakness was a second guard that could create his shot and attack the D. Add pressure. Too much reliance on Harden, it was clear in the GST series. They also had no one to go back at Curry. With Lawson, you now have someone that can go back at Curry.

I knew they'd try to get someone, but I can't believe they got him for a future #1 and basically bench players. Surprised more teams didn't jump in and get him.

Is Lawson facing jail time or something?

Perhaps our lawyer friends can help shed light on this. It might help that I believe all Lawson's DUIs were in different states. I know different states prosecute them differently. This is his 4th. I know people who have gotten 2 and had to serve some sort of time. I'm sure he'll find a way out of it, but he's got a legit alcohol problem.

We need to find a way to get Daryl Morey to the Lakers when Mitch retires. Ryan West as the GM and Daryl Morey as VP of Basketball Operation (when Jim is relieved of his duties)

Only if he comes with a muzzle and shock collar.

Dude has 4 DUI's, it's only a matter of time before he completely goes LO. I would be shocked to see him contributing anything significant by season's end.

Doubt it. He's rich. Even JR Smith only got 90 days (30 served) and someone died in the wreck that he was involved in.

We need to get Lucas working with him ASAP. If his head is on straight this is a great pickup for us. He's exactly what we need on the court. Harden gets to rest now. I like the squad if healthy:

PG - Lawson/Bev
SG - Harden/Thornton/KJ
SF - Ariza/Brewer/Dekker
PF - D-Mo/Jones/Harrell
C - Howard/Capela

Hopefully we bring Terry back.

After this many DUIs, the kid obviously has demons, and recidivism is high. The smart money is on further self-destruction, so the key is that Houston didn't give up too much to get him.

(bleep) you if you think a loser like Lawson would be a good pickup for our young team.

Being rich doesn't negate the CBA. Houston is becoming the landing place for NBA losers, you must be real proud.

JR Smith got a minimal suspension under the CBA, when his driving caused a death. But the poster was asking about jail time, which being rich clearly helps with.

I kind of wanted to see how far the Rockets would have gotten with both Josh Smith and Ty Lawson. That would have been a stacked team (still is).

All I know it's getting frustrating swiveling my head as though I'm watching tennis, watching all the players go to other teams these last few years. I'm been a follower since 1960 or so, and I don't ever remember the team being treated as though it had a plague or it was in Bakersfield or something.

I am really glad we didn't get Lawson. I am surprised so many people were clamoring for this guy. Isn't he coming directly off of a dui and was hoping for an exit from his team? I don't want this guy around our young talent, and his best years physically are definitely behind him, meanwhile he is showing a very poor mentality.

Is this a name recognition thing?

I think he got them in different states so he is okay. If you get 2 in CA in seven years it's automatic jail time

he's 27 years old....

He also agreed to make his last year non guaranteed to get out of Denver, although it's likely he would only agree to that for a contender.

They were lucky as hell.

They found a Dallas team in disarray, thanks to the Spurs losing a couple of games they should have won, and then the Clippers literally gave them the series they were easily dominating.

The odds of it happening again are very slim...

Yeah, real lucky losing Howard, Jones and Beverly for like half the year yet still winning more games than SA to get the seed to face Dallas. We didn't lose games we should have won during the season? The Spurs were ranked above us for like 3 weeks but we were the lucky team. Lol

I guess we were extra lucky to be down two starters in the playoffs and running with a backcourt of 37 yr olds.

Involved in? I'd say caused. He ran a stop sign, going 70 mph in a 25 mph zone. He killed a friend, who was ejected from the vehicle.

You were lucky, deal with it...

The Spurs don't give away the last game or the game vs NY, and you are out in the first round like last year, even with all your players healthy.

By the way, it's not difficult to verify it the next season : you added Lawson and you'll have (hopefully) all your guys healthy for the playoffs : you should do better than last season , if you were not extremely lucky this year.

I bet you'll do worse ...
