He's a scrub. No use in wasting valuable rookie development minutes on him. _________________ Lakers, today. Lakers, tomorrow. Lakers, forever. |

This or maybe cause we're still looking to trade him and don't want him to get injured. |

Veteran players who don't get enough playing time should volunteer to play in the Summer League. Metta is a veteran who is a starter has volunteered to play in the summer league back in '06. |

Hope it was a sophomore slump and he can come back and stretch the floor for us. I also hope he gained some quickness and worked on his three ball. This team has a lot of good pieces to work with. If only we can harness all this talent, it would be a really fun team to watch make the playoffs. Go Lakers! |

He's a system player. Summer league is mostly streetball anyway. |

He didn't play because SL has little bearing on how he'll perform in the regular season. You can drop 24 a game and win SL MVP, but that doesn't mean you'll be successful in the NBA (see Glenn Rice Jr or Adam Morrison).
Quite honestly, he probably has much better things to do. As Metta World Peace said, it's basically just dumb man basketball.
For rookies like Russell, Nance, Brown and Upshaw, it's more or less a transition period to NBA level play and rules. I wouldn't see it as a significant indicator of anything.
Other than that, the summer league mainly just exists for fringe players that want to get noticed. |
