This. Brown will indeed get a lot of time to develop...

I think the biggest reason LA has tried to move young is not that they can't see him bouncing back into form in his role as a backup wing, but rather that with Kobe's injury risks and Brown's rookie status, young is often going to have to play a role he was never good at to begin with. Large minute starting 3 is not something he is comfortable or effective at. Their principal need here is merely an effective shooter and defender who fits into the starting unit doing those things, and is a vet capable of knowing how to do so.

i think you've hit it on the head. Young can be a real difference maker off the bench for a team looking for scoring. It's just not a fit here with Williams being better in that role and the gap at starting SF given, as you put it, the injury risk with Bryant. Young's struggles last year can be chalked up to injury, immaturity and a coach who didn't handle things well. The team was a bunch of players in transit which meant very little cohesive play. The makeup is different this year.

I'd love for LA to land a player like MKG or Thabo (though he's still recovering from a broken leg). Jeff Green would be good too.

With our void at SF, and barring any trade to bring somebody in, I'd really like to take this as an opportunity to develop A. Brown. He might just be a rotation player or even a fringe rotation player for his career, but there is no time to accelerate his development like the present on this team...

I think ABrown is very much a James Jones replica, with hopefully better defense. I don't see Abrown taking any shots besides 3s, just like James Jones.

That's good enough for me at this season. Defend, shoot 3's, stretch the floor, and that's it. We have plenty of creators.

I would be really happy with a James Jones clone, personally. Don't even need better D. That's a fine rotation player which is a great haul in the second round.

Yup. A guy who plays within his strengths. At least with what I've seen, he can be a better defender than Jones.

And is 22, he isn't a guy just a year removed from high school. He should be ready for more burn earlier than the kids.

Gotta give Brown a shot...I don't see us having many options. I also like the idea of having Randle play here and giving Bass more burn. Veterans like Bass give us a chance to win.

I think the Lakers are hoping A. Brown to turn into a smaller version of HB.

Slightly smaller, but FAR less athletic. I don't think that's a great comparison for Brown. I see a lot of comparisons to very athletic players with ABrown, but the fact is that ABrown is not much of an athlete.

As I said before, I think James Jones is a good comp. Simultaneously optimistic and realistic. It's optimistic because that would be a good outcome for a second rounder. It's realistic because that's a guy who is actually very similar to Anthony Brown.

I didn't say it was a good comparison.

All we would need is Crawford and we would have every volume shooting, low IQ chucker left in the league. Analytics be damned!

Small ball like the Daly coached Pistons with Isiah, Dumars, and Vinnie Johnson. We'll go with Russell, Clarkson, and Lou Williams.

Solomon Hill is a realistic option to shore up the 3 spot.... can probably trade Sacre or Kelly with a attached future pick to make it work.

At the beginning of the season this should be starting lineup. You saw how bad the summer league went. Just be the same even wore against vets .

C: Hibbert, Black
PF: Bass, Randle
SF: Kobe, Young
SG: Lou, JBrown,
PG: Clarkson, Russell

Russell, Clarkson, and Randle starting together right now is a recipe for
disaster.

Maybe if Randle and Russell develop quickly that would be the ticket.

I'd do a trade for Covington or just sign Harrison Barnes/Durant next year

There is a significant difference in Young's performance starting vs off the bench. I would start A Brown even if you still want to keep his minutes down at the beginning. Give Young his best chance of success.
