Just curious to rather Russell and Randall will start or not. I'm thinking that Russel has a better chance than Randall and that Clarkson is definitely a starter. Your thoughts?

Bass will start opening night and it's up to Randle to make his way to start which is 50/50

They will start...the future is now in Los Angeles. Bass and Williams as starters only give us a few more meaningless wins this season. I'd rather the young guns go through their growing pains now and get it over with. Bass and Williams will both be here for a few seasons so hey may as well get used to anchoring the bench now.

Randle has to start. the only question is whether we will be starting the trio of kobe, russell and clarkson. i still prefer to bring one of them off the bench. in this case clarkson.

The Lakers do not have to make any decisions. The best 5 start. You have to earn your spot. If you can't earn it, you don't deserve it.

Randle is coming off a broken leg as a rookie in his 1st game. No way is he going to start. He needs to prove himself durability wise before he starts over a proven vet like Bass. I think that's why Bass chose LA is because he will start and also of course he loves the Lakers.

I've said from the beginning that it's theirs to lose. As long as they continue to improve, I think they will get the start. It's not like we have all-stars backing them up.

Byron said it's an open competition between Randle and Bass for the starting spot. Don't think that Bass is penciled in.

It really may be wise to slowly incorporate them. I understand they are our future, but we need all the wins we can get to attract future FA and we don't want to drop a bunch of games early on. Let them get comfortable and in shape first.

You know Byron isn't starting Swaggy. He seems to hate him.

too much duplicate skillset with N young, Lou Williams and with Jabari Brown on the bench.

Right now, I think Clarkson is the only one slated to start right off the bat, and truthfully he is the only one of the three that has proven himself in a nba game. Mitch stated that he doesn't know what Russell's role will be to start the season, and Randle has to prove that he is not only in shape to play, but also ready to do the other things like rebound and defend. Hopefully the worse case is all of them play a ton of minutes and get to develop, and best case is they are all starters very quickly, playing a ton of minutes and looking like future all stars. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing preseason games, and seeing what the different combinations of players look like.

Young has shown over his time with the Lakers that he plays better off the bench in a sixth man role. He would also be in Kobe and Clarkson's way in the starting unit.

I don't think Jabari is much of a consideration, I am not sure he will even be an option. But Williams is a good creator for others, something Young isn't. With one of Clarkson or Russell and Williams we would have two guys who can create for others. And I know we have discussed this before, but I would start Anthony Brown in the lineup you proposed, his defense would be a good thing to have.

Russell and Randle just not ready from watching summer league.
But about the middle of the season they may be.

You realize we still have training camp and preseason right? Rosters are not set by summer league play.

We need another player besides Hibbert to step up and play effective defense. It doesn't have to be an "SF" necessarily.

But Byron already stated both guys will start. He's an idiot so I wouldn't be surprised if he flip flops.

Personally, I think you just throw them in there and see what transpires.
