West Starters:
Steve Nash
Kobe Bryant
Tracy McGrady
Tim Duncan
Yao Ming
East Starters:
Allen Iverson
Dwayne Wade
LeBron James
Jermaine O'Neal
Shaquille O'Neal
Personally, I think everyone deserves the selection, except Yao. Maybe Duncan in Centre while Brand in PF for West is more suitable. |

Here is an interesting STAT: 4 starters are straight from High School. Do the math, 40% of the Elite players are HS players. Hmmm... _________________ Be nice to Mitch and everyone in this planet. Exactly what I was going to say. KG deserves to be there over Yao. _________________ Stephon Marbury on Kobe: "He's the only person on 'dis earth that can do 'dat. I also think that Billups should be in the East starting line-up instead of Wade. But, it's unfortunate that his position is the same as AI's ... |

At least it's not like the MLB all-star game where idiot fans voting starters can affect home-field advantage in the World Series. |

It gets so old with Yao taking the most All-Star votes every year
And it's even more insulting in a year like this where Kobe came in 2nd.

And The Dagger leading all Non-Chinese Votes. Amazing considering he is supposedly the most hated player in b-ball. How the hell is KG not in there. I know his team sucks, but he's still the second best player in the league. Stay Puff shouldn't even make the reserves. He's missed half the season and has played tired and out of shape for the rest. Raunchy should start over either AI or Drain Wade. The Matrix is quite possibly a top five player this year, he better make the reserves. I will be the first to predict a Kobe triple double and MVP in this years allstar game. _________________ The great Laker Center Tradition continues.....Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Gasol, AD....Gasol. |

Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming and Shaq do not deserve to be starters this year due to their injuries.
The NBA All Star voting is a JOKE! |

Agree. Yao & McGrady are voted starters because the game is in Houston, but Yao has missed what almost 2 months. Give me a break! _________________ All I'm offering is the truth |

Considering the whole Chinese voting for Yao, Kobe is the real #1 vote getter. |

The Matrix and Brand should definitely be in the starting lineup this year. McGrady is just a poor man's Kobe, so his presence is redundant. And he's not very effective without the ball, as opposed to a guy like Marion who can do damage without the ball. And it's a damn shame that Yao is stealing Elton Brand's spot. Here is how the West lineup should be:
PG: Nash
SG: Kobe
SF: Marion
PF: Brand
C: Duncan
^ That is an unstoppable lineup. Marion can play the passing lanes, crash the boards, run the court; he'd be the role player on this team. Nash leading the break, Kobe and Marion running the wings, Brand and Duncan trailing. Then if you want to play a halfcourt game you have 2 bigs who can score in the paint at will, or even hit the midrange jumper. Scary. |

The only reason Yao is on the list is because there are BILLIONS of people in China. But I must agree that the West in stacked with All-Star center, I guess Yao is all we got in the west( that is until Bynum )
So in theory, Kobe should be the top overall most recieved voted person NOT Yao. _________________ Be nice to Mitch and everyone in this planet. Never do evil or commit any act that might hurt others' feelings. We must all become environmentalists.

Oh yeah, Yao will always be top voted person for the next 10 years or until he retires because of Big China & International Countries that look upon Yao as a role model. _________________ Be nice to Mitch and everyone in this planet. Yao winning because of a billion Chinese votes is a myth. He has lost in online voting, which is open to people all over the world, in the past. The difference between Yao and Shaq was the paper votes, which are only made in the US and Canada. It seems that American fans like him as well.
Yao didn't deserve to be voted over Shaq when he was still in the West, but now he should be getting all the votes by default because he's the only big-name center left in the conference. Camby may be the supposedly "smart" choice this season, and I certainly don't have a problem with him going (he's guaranteed the reserve center spot). However, is this the All-STAR game, or the All-half-season-wonder game? That may even be an overstatement, since Camby has missed a lot of games as well. Yao has been better than Camby for a while, and if you go into in-depth stats like PER (and not just per-game averages), it's arguable that he's still better than Camby THIS season. I don't agree with the idea that some guy who's played well for all of two months should be picked over an established star, even if that star has missed games. If Kobe were to get injured and miss 20 games, would you think it would be OK if someone like Ray Allen or Ginobili got picked over him? Or would you think it was ridiculous? Besides, why isn't the second half of last season and the playoffs, both of which come after the All-Star game, counted by most people?
KG wasn't shafted because of Yao, he was shafted because of position requirements. If you want to argue that, then you should be arguing against the system itself. Besides Kobe and arguably Nash, I don't think any guards "deserve" to be on the Western Conference All-Star team. The West is incredibly deep at forward and relatively thin at guard, and guys like Marion, Gasol, Carmelo, and Rashard will be fighting for that last roster spot. |
