How low do we need to aim here?

Nah. This isn't a pipe dream. This is the "assuming no KD" lineup.

If we land the #1 pick, what about offering it for Westbrook and then moving Clarkson and change for a center?

You trade a #1 overall pick (when there's an absolute monster on the board) for a guy you can sign outright in a year?

Let's roll with this and call up Upshaw from the D league as 3rd string center

I don't mind Lou in theory, but you need a tall PG to pair with him. I'm a big fan of Livingston, and he may have to be cut by the Warriors (non-guaranteed deal in 2016) to pay for barnes/ezeli. Good defender, can guard 3 positions and handle the ball. I like versatile guys. Who thought that Livingston would be considered a "vet" one day. I really like him a lot.

LOVE the idea of Livingston

Has little to do with that and MUCH to do with the current CBA. It's time for people to recognize it is hard to acquire marquee players in this day and age. And sometimes it has nothing to do with the Laker brand.

Livingston or Chalmers would be my choices at backup PGs.

At the SF spot, Evan Fournier is also someone I'm keeping an eye on.

Which, as has been shown, means little.

Yeah, explain the rule against perpetuities and the destructibility of the contingent remainder. I miss real property.

I still have no idea how "R.A.P" works...

I think that's a huge mistake. Admittedly not as sold on Westbrook as most people.

I am not sure how one isn't sold on a top 10 player, but besides that, having a star trumps having a guy who might be a star in 4-5 years. Keep all your youngsters and we are looking at being competitive in that time period. Trading one or two for stars quickens that pace.

The only player I'd trade the #1 pick for is Drummond. Other then that I'd keep it.

If Westbrook wants to be a Laker, sign him in a year and keep the #1 pick.

Well Riley can't do more than offer him a contract, same as every other team in the league.

And it's limited to 4 years with the lower raises. They don't have full bird rights so will have to use cap space. I still expect him to stay. Miami at the max with a decent roster in the weaker conference.

On the flip side, if he did choose to come to LA, it would say a lot about him.

Yup.

But bear in mind, the core in Miami over the next 4 years is ugly. Dragic (30 next year, youngest), Wade (34 next year), Bosh (32 next year). So while he enters his prime, the 3 highest players on the team are way past it.

That would be the sales pitch, in LA he would have other young guns to run with.

What do we have that would entice them to give up a big man on a rookie deal?

No. They don't have full bird rights.

IIRC, the same 4 years, 4.5% raises as we could offer. And if they give him that, then they likely don't have enough cap space to go after another max player (and I'm not sure they're just going to dump Wade).

Well hot damn, let's just give up already.

At least we got Sacre worst case scenario.

How much can Kobe make with a max contract at this point? I'm assuming his rights are grandfathered in.
