We've stayed on top the longest. I expect us to be on top in the next few years, with or without Jimmy. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Things will normalize.

Lakers vs Knicks finals. Russell (FMVP) vs Porzingis. PJ/Fisher vs Jimmy/Jeanie. So many headlines for that one.

I can see it as clear as day.

Don't the Lakers have something like the best winning percentage in all of American professional sports? I thought I heard that a few years ago. The Raiders were up there for a while, but then..... yeah.

*edit*

Crazy that in the NBA, the Celtics are still #3 after a TON of years of sucking, a couple great years, and back to sucking... and since this was posted 2014, then the Spurs have surpassed the Lakers, and the lowly Clippers have moved up, albeit probably just minor steps.

Things will sooon return to where they should be. Won't be this year I fear. Hang in there, gents.

If i was a Celtics fan I would feel alot better about the position they are puting themselves in. Ainge is setting that team up to be at the top alot faster than most expect with good young coach, draft picks and good solid signings and drafting. I like some of our signings but still seems like we are banking on a big FA class in a year or 2, trying to sing those guys away from their teams rather than building for LONG TERM success.

If it was a stock chart it wouldn't be good. The Lakers lows in that graph keep going lower and lower over time which makes it look like a downward trend. Luckily the team isn't a stock.

Different CBA. The CBA currently makes it very hard for bad teams to get good and for good teams to get bad.

True.

But the trend also suggests that every time the Lakers hit a "low" in the graph they eventually bounce back with a high which always includes championships.

I don't wish for normalization. The league norm is .a 500 record. Be in fear of what it would take for fifty years to reach that for our club.

There are no assured seasons ahead. Everything is earned. There's a great history with this franchise, and though its history promises nothing for the future, I find solace elsewhere. We're not fans of Milwaukee, Washington, Portland, Philly. They know real suffering, emptiness, and waiting - the likes of which I hope to never see.

Fingers crossed we never see it.
