PostPosted: Thu Jul 30, 2015 1:38 pm    Post subject: List 5 things that you want out of this upcoming season

1) Russell, Randle, & Clarkson each play 26+ mpg - This is both for the purpose of experience & evaluation. The more we see these 3 play, especially together, the more we'll see how things can work going forward. I'd like each of them to have a good 4,000 minutes under their belts by the time they hit their 3rd year, counting this year as Randle's rookie season.

2) Kobe plays at least 65 games - I want to see him walk off the court under his own power. He's meant so much to the franchise that it would be a shame if his career ended with an injury.

3) 35 wins - Probably 3-5 games more than I think we'll win, but I think it's a reasonable goal.

4) Hibbert as a DPOY contender - He's the most important player on the team this year, as I can't envision us having even a modicum of success without him playing at a high level. Other players can be replaced, but we don't have anyone else who can provide what he does.

5) Be a Top 10 team in transition - I'm not holding my breath regarding our half court schemes being good on either end of the court, but I think we have some decent potential in transition. Hibbert can start the breaks with him interior defense, Russell & Randle can both rebound and push it in transition, Clarkson can fly up court, and guys like Russell, Williams, & Young can be good spot up shooters in semi-transition. I hope we push the pace as much as possible.

1. To cheer for wins. I understand we'll be underdogs in virtually every game, but I want to root for us a group of overachievers. I group I know will be here for years to come. We didnt have that with so many journeyman coming through in recent years.

2. Rookie development. I want to see moments, games, where our rookie are given the opportunities to show us glimpses of the future. I want to be able to get excited about a no look pass, a defensive block, or a put back dunk.

3. I want the Mamba to play within his means, to become the mamba in moments, to mentor the rookies, to allow for himself to gracefully play out his final year (in this contract) on a positive note. Ultimate dream would be for us to be in contention for the 8th spot and possibly earn a playoff trip. The less he forces, the better chance we get to see him on the court.

4. I want the Buss Kids to finally come to some type of agreement. I want, as a fan, to feel like the Buss kids arent at each other's throats through the media. Im tired of hearing about the 3 year plan. Im tired of Jeannies unwillingness to keep her brother out of the lime light. I wish the organization regained its shine. Targeted the right scouts, experts, and trainers to beef up their upcoming sales pitch. They are rookies as well. They need to prove themselves to the NBA as much as Randle, Russell, and Clarkson

5. Finally, I just want a sense of hope

1) Young players developing, attracting the attention of free agents

2) Hibbert good

3) Logical coaching. No more of this 'I don't believe in stats and three point shots' garbage

4) Kobe healthy

5) Kobe realistic and efficient. No more 30 shots a game stuff

1. The healthiest season for the roster in 20 years.
2. A more facilitating Kobe.
3. Continual, steady improvement for the youngsters.
4. Good chemistry between the vets and youngsters.
5. Competitive spirit driving the team game in and out, despite the scoreboard.

After that, let the chips fall where they may.

1. Russell wins ROY and Randle making at least 2nd team rookie.

2. Black, Clarkson, both Browns, and Upshaw( if signed) show great/better potential.

3. Hibbert proves he's worthy to be our long term center.

4. Young shows he can play defense like he said he can.

5. Kobe surprises us and plays 60 plus games. Doesn't try to do much. Teaches the young guys and is a mentor. He makes the all star team. And hits a game winner at least once.

3) Scott gets his head out of his xxx and stops sabotaging our players.
4) Russell finds his shot consistently.
5) Randle shoots +50% near the rim.

1) Russell take a leadership role. I want Russell to be groomed to be the main guy because as a PG his focus is getting the whole team working as a unit.

2) Byron to play to Russell's strengths. Give him picks and make the bigs do their part.

3) Randle letting the game come to him. I think he forces the issue sometimes.

4) Kobe to play under 30 minutes a game and stay healthy

5) Clarkson to break out and show that he's grown since last season. While he finished fairly strong last season, I think we overstate how good he was. He was definitely good for a rookie, but he's still got a lot of growing to do. I want to see a big step since I know he's very capable of taking big steps.

5. 100-102 OPP PPG at the most.- We let up 105.3 PPG last season, which was 2nd worst in the league. With Hibbert guarding the paint, I'm hoping that tally gets knocked down a few points.

4. 30 wins- I think this is a reasonable goal for this team. We're going to have to play teams like the Warriors, Spurs, Thunder, Clippers, and Rockets 3-4 times each, as well as some of the 2nd and 3rd tier Western Conference playoff teams like the Grizzlies and Pelicans, all of whom clearly have more talent/well rounded rosters than we do. Beating up on Eastern Conference teams, as well as being competitive with the lower tier West teams should put us at this mark.

3. Randle bounces back strong- Our nightmare of a 2014-2015 season started with Randle breaking his leg on opening night. Going into last season, watching Julius play was going to be one of the very few aspects that we had to look forward to, and unfortunately, it didn't happen. He was robbed of his rookie year. Looking forward to seeing how he responds to early adversity.

2. Russell is in the conversation for rookie of the year- I have high hopes for D'Angelo. I'm not expecting him to come in and be a top 5 PG from day 1, but a strong first year would be a good start to him eventually reaching that plateau. I'm hoping he stays healthy throughout the year and is able to silence the critics that were freaking out and labeling him as a disappointment during summer league. He's the prospect that I'm most excited for.

1. Kobe plays 60+ games and averages at least around 18-20 PPG, 4-5 RPG, and 4-5 APG- Injuries have screwed us out of enjoying his final few years. My biggest hope for this upcoming season is that he stays relatively healthy and can go out on his own terms, if he does decide to retire at the end of the season.

1. Some kind of on court chemistry with at least 2 of the young players.

2. One of the young players become good defensively.

3. Kobe play off the ball

4. Russell make an All-Rookie team.

5. A second unit speed lineup. No Princeton, in other words.

(1 and 5 are probably the same)

The Princeton Offense needs to be scrapped before game 1 of the preseason. Hopefully Byron isn't stubborn with getting rid of it.

Or just run it with Kobe, Sacre and the vets, and design something different for the young players. I don't see any reason why they have to play at a slow, deliberate pace when he's out of the game. That stupid offense basically killed anything useful that might have happened in the Summer League.

Yeah, good points. At least we're not going to have to be as dependent on it as we were early on with that 2012-2013 squad. The last time we relied on it as a "go to" offense, it went pretty bad...

1. Russell to start and averages over 28 minutes played and puts up 12pts and 6 dimes.
2. Kobe plays 70 plus games avg. 20+ 5 and 5.
3. Randle to stay healthy and contribute right away. Hopefully can avg 14 and 7reb
4. Roy Hibbert gets back to all star Roy.
5. Lakers win 40 games playing a free flowing type of offense (let the players use their creativity) and solid D.

1) I want the team to win as many games as possible, but I also don't want the organization sticking with Byron if they do win a lot of games.

That's my conflict of interest. I want them to do well, but I know if they do badly, Byron will have a shorter leash. Ultimately I want them to win.

2) I want Kobe to have a great, injury free season. Prove everyone wrong who has written him off which includes many Laker fans. People have forgotten what he's meant to this organization. Not saying writing him off isn't justifiable. It is.

3) The rookies (including Randle in this, Russell) to have ROY type seasons. The young guys to show what they are capable of (Nance, Brown, Clarkson, Kelly, Black, JBrown, etc).

4) Hibbert to be a DPOY candidate. If this team is anywhere decent I'm positive it will be because of him. For this team to be decent, Hibbert has to probably be the most impactful player on the roster.

5) Championship of course . More realistically playoffs, but even that isn't too realistic. I definitely think this team is much better than last years, simply because of Hibbert. I see a 30+ win team.

Im all about the youngster focus, I'm not even concerned about kobe's legacy anymore (as a winner), he gave us what he could, anything positive now is a huge plus; im more concerned on his effect on our youth's development

what I want

1. Kobe not hindering the growth of our youth.
2. Kobe, Bass, and Hibbert being mentors to the youngesters
3. DLO = 14pts 7ast 3rebs
4. Clarkson = 13pts 5ast 5reb
5. Randle = 13pts 7rebs 2ast 1blk
5. Nance = 7pts 5rebs

the math doesn't work out as a winner probably, but I feel like those stats are more than attainable and if they can keep improving throughout the season, there is no reason why at least one of em doesn't turn into an all star eventually.

keeping my fingers crossed for a healthy season as well.

Kobe plays 30-32 mpg averages around 23-25 ppg.

Clarkson and Russell play like allstars.
Randle stops being an ass and ignoring fans/kids as well.
Hibbert plays great defense.
Byron Scott improves coaching abilities.

Make playoffs.
