If Curry and Klay are the 'Splash Bros' what are Clarkson and Dlo?

Don't forget Anthony Brown. I think he is the steal of the draft.

Iverson and Larry Hughes were called the Flight Brothers. Not sure if it ever caught on outside of Philly, before they shipped Larry out.

Currently, from the total # of games they've played together in the regular season, their nickname really is

okay, since russell is a pass first play-making guard and clarkson is a score first play-making guard; they should be called The "Clash Bros." both are versatile and can play either the one or the two yet play opposite styles.

Nothing yet, wait until they actually are good on the court.

This is going to sound bad and probably a bit disrespectful. I am not trying to come off as trying to put a damper on the thread. I understand you are trying to kill time and have a different viewpoint then mine. But this is kind of a pet peeve of mine in sports.

IMO nicknames are earned by performance. Not just given to be cool. Perhaps I am just getting too old to find the fun in silly video game or WWE nicknames. Not a big fan of the "Splash Bros" type marketing either.

Clarkson and Russell have potential to be very good. And I am excited about the prospects of watching them develop and become impact players in the League. Instead of a "cool" nickname how about they earn the reputation as the best backcourt in the League. Maybe then a nickname will be warranted.

But giving them some ridiculous manufactured name before they have accomplished anything is just not my style. And IMO just the kind of immature marketing that I would prefer the Lakers do not engage in.

Giving the duo a nickname reeks of the same lack of professionalism and foolishness that gives us the Swaggy P's of the world. It is the same mindset that has billboards begging a player to stay or social media blasts trying to recruit weak minded players.

Re-reading this, I see I am getting old and judgmental and probably out of touch with current attitudes. But creating flashy nicknames for unproven players ranks right up there with a celebrating every play like you just won a Championship. The old coaching adage of "act like you been there before" does not seem to apply anymore.

This is right on! Earn it first.

Agreed 100%

And when everybody in the universe has a nickname, the whole concept of a nickname loses it's meaning entirely.

Here's the thing about message boards and off season threads: we can say and do what ever we want and it will have absolutely ZERO bearing on what actually happens in real life.

Me making a thread about this won't stop D'lo from realizing he has to get better or Clarkson realizing he has to put a lot of work in before the season starts.

There is no doubt in my mind that people who have participated in this thread are also of the mind that our young players have a long way to go to be considered worthy of nicknames.

This is PURELY a thread for people to have fun and take their mind off the actual process. The players are PAID to think about that and work all that out...

We are just here to be entertained... Pure and simple ..

Enjoy the show

This makes absolutely ZERO sense.

We are in a Lakerfan only thread.

This is what having unknowns like unproven young players is about:

Speculation and what COULD be.

We ARE NOT in the business of trying to figure out what WILL be. That's the coaches, GMs, and FO people's jobs.

It's the fans jobs to talk and speculate and create internal hype amoungst each other... It's to have fun with hypotheticals. So if you want to start a thread about "let's temper our expectations about these guys" go ahead... This is just a hypotheticals thread for purposes of passing the time.

Since they haven't played a single game in the regular season, let alone the playoffs, I'd call them premmies...as in premature.
