Sorry, I just can not accept Kobe and Young at SF. There has to be a better option.

my preference over A Brown or J holmes starting at sf is to have Russell start at 1 and Clarkson start at 2.

those 2 r more important then a brown/holmes starting at 3.

that also leaves kobe to play 1 position and thats SF.

I am ok with it

We just differ in opinion on a couple of fundamental issues.

Personally I would prefer Kobe playing his natural SG spot. Secondly I am not as concerned with Russell starting. IMO it might be more beneficial for him to come off the bench. He is only 19 yrs old and has time to develop his game if we let him.

As the roster stands now. And with more then a bit of optimism about our young players ability to play.

I would start the season like this:

1st unit (defensive, half court offense): Clarkson/ Kobe/ Brown or Holmes / Bass/ Hibbert
2nd unit (uptempo, pressure defense): Russell/Williams/ Young or rookie/ Randle/ Black

I agree. But for the 2nd unit, I want Upshaw instead of Black. But Black will do.

There is no Upshaw
.

How do you know?

I look at the Laker roster.

Holmes Signing now official. Multi-year deal.

Quote:
EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Jonathan Holmes to a multi-year contract, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

In five games for the Celtics’ entry in the 2015 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Holmes averaged 12.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals in 21.8 minutes per game, while shooting 55.6% from the field. The 6’9’’ Holmes also appeared in three games for Boston in the 2015 Utah Jazz Summer League, and in his eight games (seven starts) between the two competitions, shot a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line, and 13-28 (46.4%) from beyond-the-arc.

Undrafted after spending four seasons at the University of Texas (2011-15), Holmes averaged 9.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per game over 127 contests with the Longhorns. The San Antonio native was named All-Big 12 Second Team and team MVP as a junior after averaging 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks on 50.5% shooting, and was an All-Big 12 Honorable mention as a senior with averages of 10.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game, while hitting 1.3 three-pointers per contest.

Yeah, but summer's not over. They can still be trying to make moves, and as others pointed out, Upshaw is free to sign with the 29 other teams and hasn't.

Lakers are likely to have 17-20 players in camp - need to see Holmes guarantee amount before making assumptions

I think Kelly is out the door. Drafting Nance, signing Holmes indicates we're moving in a certain direction playing a certain style, IMO.

Kelly fits that new wave style.

You think so? Guarding multiple positipns, defending pick in roll, getting up and down in transition .

I like Ryan. It just doesn't seemher fits the mold of the Nance and Holmes type of players.

Kelly easily fits the small ball style of play. If anything, his great standing reach makes him more flexible as a defender.

Sure, Holmes is more of a rebounder, but Kelly is more adept at ball-handling and passing.

I think of Kelly is a sub-version of Markieff Morris. He can do the same things. Holmes is more adept to defending the post and rebounding. Less on the versatile scoring.

Gotcha. I didn't see much of Holmes. However, Kelly gives me the feel of a more slow-footed plodding center; he makes the right play 90% of the time. As a stretch 4, I thought he worked quite well when he was healthy.

I'd prefer to go roll with Randle, Bass, Holmes, and Nance, though.
