It might take time before we are contenders but I'm jubilant watching the trio of Randle, Clarkson, and Dlo develop.. not only the trio, but alot of other young assets have been added

C:
Black, Upshaw

PF:
Kelly, Randle, Nance

SF:
Brown, Holmes

SG:
Russell, Brown

PG:
Clarkson

all 25 and under....

add in a couple vets who can actually play in Lou, Bass, Hibbert, Young, Kobe

I'd prefer to not call our players assets. They're people, not commodities nor unrealized draft picks nor disposable tools.

But yes, I'm excited about our young group of talented players

With the amount of young guys we have, I think at least 1 will turn into an all-star level player. If we're extremely lucky 2 of them will. It's going to be a long ride.

Not really. I am happy with the talents that Randle and Clarkson have displayed. I am concerned about the lack of athleticism of Russell. Black is a great locker room presence but he is only an adequate role player. Kelly and Sacre are goners. I was once excited by the potential of Kelly but it appears that we have developed him the wrong way (Kelly at 3? Seriously?).

Jabari seems to be a decent player. I will go as far as saying that he has late first round talent. But a late first round talent will not save a franchise. Upshaw and Holmes were undrafted for a reason. Holmes was only 33 on Lakers' board.

Anthony seems destined for mediocrity. We are at best getting a James Jones-esque career out of him. I would consider that a lottery if he can emulate James Jones' career. It is highly unlikely.

Nance has the greatest variance. His athleticism and skillset seems to suggest that he can be the next Draymond Green, but he can also be the next Joe Alexander. I am very skepitcal about his shooting mechanics. If he can't shoot, he won't even get a chance to see the court.

All in all ... cautiously optimistic. All depends on how our top 3 guys pan out, and whether one of the rest can surprise us like Clarkson did.

It's exciting to have some hope that something could happen -- that the young players will turn into assets.

Clarkson has shown something. Randle and Russell are unknowns, but young unknowns provide the thrill of the possible. The other young guys have to show me something before I care about them.

Basically, of the trio, my hope is one becomes a star, and one becomes a solid NBA starter. That might give us enough to land a great free agent or two and then we're in business.

The veterans, frankly, I don't care about. To me, they are simply infrastructure to let the young guys develop; I expect them all to be long gone by the time we matter again.

Is there something else to be excited about? A 36 year old physically decimated Kobe?

All very quickly, too. Other than Kelly, all were picked up last year and this year. Nice quick reload.

I wonder how these d'angelo Russell haters are going to live with themselves once he makes it to star status? You guys will probably shamelessly be his biggest supporters hoping nobody remembers how you initially reacted to him being a laker.

Anyways, I am really, really excited about the lakers new young players.i have high hopes that they will all reach their potential.

Anthony brown 3&D specialist

Larry nance untility knife defender, energy guy, highlight dunks

Russell star

Randle star

Clarkson star

Jabari brown solid rotation player, kid can score in this league and his effort on the defensive end looked improved in SL

Black 3rd bigman pf or C

Yes.

And I was excited at even the possibility of having such a talented young core. Now that we actually have it I'm thrilled!

I've been wanting a team like this since the beginning of last year. 3 young studs with the potential to grow into a future core ala golden state. And able bodied vets to help them get there. They'll still be cheap if they blow up and turn into something. Then you can add the final pieces to the puzzle and have amazing depth.

Yes. I am excited about the young group assembled.

Going to be an interesting year watching them develop and grow together. I especially like the potential is spread out over the entire team. How all the puzzle pieces fit together if it works out right.

Maybe a bit optimistic but I think the Lakers have the potential core of 6-8 players to build around. Give them a couple of years to develop and build that team chemistry is exciting for me as a fan. Not just the marquee players with the potential to be All-Stars but just as importantly the impact bench players too.

Unlikely they will all develop into impact players. But IMO several will. Now they just need to play the game and prove it. IMO this is going to be a fun season to watch. Certainly some highs and lows but as of today I am liking the rebuild plan. Lakers just have to stick with it even when it gets difficult.

We have to understand that some of these young guys may have a very short Lakers tenure. The FO wants to be in contention as fast as possible as we are likely missing the playoffs for a 3rd straight year.

Mitch has done a good job, especially considering we've trade away our picks b4. We reload beautifully in 2 reasons when Kobe injured, simply with #2, #7 picks only. We have 3 all star potential players already in Clarkson, Randle and Russell. Nothing short when comparing to teams like 76ers, magic, Kings, jazz or Timberwolves who have been tanking for much longer time.

With our young 3 gaining more experience, we could be a team can attract big name players again soon. A trade like Pau Gasol would make the team contender again soon

Of course. This is one of the funnest parts of being a fan, seeing if the young gunz can work out. Going to have be patient though. You don't want to be one of these morons who writes off a guy after one performance.

Wish for the best though.

While you're laughing, ask yourself what you have actually seen so far.

1. You saw Randle log about 13 minutes before his leg gave out.
2. You saw Clarkson get significant minutes when the team decided to tank the season.
3. You some terrible Summer League ball where the only guy who looked good was Clarkson.

what assets? other than Russell whom i think will be hampered big time by our coaching staff, all others are either late round picks or FA rookies.

I've seen enough to be excited and no matter what I or anyone else says, it won't sway you regardless.
