Quote:
The Los Angeles Lakers will open their season against the Minnesota Timberwolves "barring last-minute changes," reports Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times. The NBA is set to release the full schedule Wednesday, but bits and pieces of the new season have begun leaking. This matchup sets up an opening night game featuring the top picks of the 2015 NBA Draft,l D'Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, in Staples Center.

Add in Andrew Wiggins, Kobe Bryant, local dunking dynamo Zach LaVine, Julius Randle and the rest of the talent between the teams and it should make for an interesting game to watch during opening week. Both teams struggled last season, but added another round of lottery talent and roster tweaks as they move forward. Bringing this group of talent together as the NBA opens its doors should be a fun way to start the year.

The Lakers are also expected to face the Clippers as the hosting team on Christmas Day, and the Philadelphia 76ers will travel to Los Angeles for New Year's Day. We'll follow-up with the full regular season schedule release as soon as it becomes available.

Lakers currently have 8-game road trip in only 13 days in December. I don't have more details, but full NBA schedule is released Wednesday.

Not excited for December. Seems like a hell month that'll determine whether we'll be in playoff contention or not. Nevertheless, season opening game should be fun with the likes of Russell, Towns, Kobe, Garnett, Randle, Wiggins, Clarkson, and LaVine playing.

Not bad. Glad we're going to have a winnable game to start. #1 vs #2 is intriguing too. We're probably not going to open up on TNT though. I can't remember the last time we didn't, other than the lockout season of 2011-2012, and even then, we opened up on ABC.

That 8 game road trip in 13 days in December worries me. I'd rather we play East teams during that span to get the cross country traveling done with as much as possible early on.

That's actually pretty good. It's an interesting game, plus they're not feeding us to some lions to get slaughtered, like the last two seasons.

Wouldn't it be cool if the Lakers and TWolves started a rivalry in the WCF say in 4-5 years? The history there

From Garnett to Towns and Kobe to Russell. The game will mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Both Russell and Towns have a lot to live up to, but they couldn't be in better hands.

And yes, I predict a Russell vs Towns WCF rivalry in the next 3-4 years. Should be fun watching these kids grow up.

So what does this mean for the grammy trip?

We might get both. The Clippers had a long road trip in November and then another long road trip right before the Grammy's too. I hope that isn't our case next season, although it could mean we'd have a bunch of home games to end the year.

I wonder if the Wolves will be breaking in a new coach. I wish Flip the best, but it's going to be really hard for him to continue everything he is doing with his treatments.

Our only true rival is the Boston Celtics. This franchise is defined by championships, not rivalries against perpetual cellar dwellers.

What history? You mean the Minneapolis Lakers or the one time we met deep in the playoffs?

8 game road trip in December? Look like that tank thread might be starting early. Atleast we have a chance at a winning record after the opener for the first time since?

Yeah.

It's looking like it will be the fifth year in a row where we have a top 5 hardest strength of schedule
